She was a gift......And your point?
I will a raise point that most people....mainly liberals, choose to ignore....
Mexico like many other third world countries does not have the same public health standards as the US or the rest of the industrialized world...
One purpose of legal immigration is to screen for communicable diseases...
Why is it when say I as an American citizen, want to visit any foreign country, I must produce a legal and current passport to include a vaccination record prior to visiting any foreign country?
Yet....illegal immigrates who may or may not be vaccinated for communicable diseases can traipse on through?
We are beginning to see TB outbreaks; Hepatitis B-G; bedbugs...among other health related problems spread by the infected immigrants.....
Let me ask our foreign "guests".....Is it acceptable to you to place your life and your family's lives at risk in the name of being P.C.?
Would not want every immigrant screened prior to setting foot in your countries?Red Fox and rlmichael09 Thank this. -
WCP, your post reeks of ignorance. You know little about the world beyond your neighbourhood and your misguided protectionist attitude is harmful to the growth of your country. You yourself are descended from immigrants. At some point in your mind it became not okay to for people to come to "your" country.
I am also not sure that Mexico is classed as a third world country. -
Have you been to Mexico?...I have.....For every resort....There are twice as many slums....
If Mexico was such a rich and equitable country.....Why is it that millions flock to El Norte?
Ignorant indeed....
Have you ever been to a communist country?.....
I have.....The former Czechoslovakia back in '81.......
But I guess since I never leave my backyard.......

I've lived for the most part in Mexico since Feb. 2006. As far as health care goes, it doesn't seem bad. I had surgery in Mexico for a broken ankle, and not only did the surgery and treatment go extremely well but it cost in total about $4,000 instead of the $50,000 or so it would've cost in the U.S.
I haven't seen anyone say that Mexico is a rich country (although one of the richest men in the world, Carlos Slim, is Mexican), and a lot of Mexicans will tell you it's a poor country. Millions went to the U.S. because of lack of jobs in Mexico and because the #### jobs they did in the U.S. payed well in comparison to what they could earn in Mexico. If you follow the news, you'll see that a lot of illegals are going back because the economic crisis has hit them hard in the U.S. -
Some of them are staying....Some places where you'd never expect a Mexican immigrant would live....KS, ND, NE......
I have no problem with them coming here....
For the most part...the average immigrant just wants a better life for themselves and their families...
What I would like to see is for them to come in the same way my great-grandfather did....through the "Front Door".....
Also....if they become citizens of this country...they should give up their Mexican citizenship....
If you want to be an American....be an American...If you want to be Mexican...be Mexican....but then stay in Mexico... -
Well, U.S. citizens can have dual citizenships, so it's really not so cut and dry about giving up one to have another. My fianceé is Mexican, so I'm thinking of getting a dual citizenship in the future. It would make my circumstance easier.
I agree about coming through the "front door." The problem is that current immigration laws make it almost impossible in a lot of cases. True story. Some years ago, I attended a Spanish school in Mexico, and there were a group of professors from the University of Tenessee there also taking classes. They took a liking to one of the Spanish teachers, and thought he'd make a great addition to U of T as a Spanish teacher. They gave him a formal job offer, so all he needed to do was go through the process of legally coming to the U.S. He took time off from work to go to the immigration office, spent the $100 or so processing fee (that's a HUGE amount for a Mexican), and goes through all the proper channels. In the end, the offical said to him (I'm paraphrasing here), "Congratulations on your job offer, but we can't give you permission to go." And the reason they gave for denying him permission? Because he was young and not married.
His story is not uncommon. Trying to get into the U.S. legally for valid reasons can be an absolute nightmare, and it's no wonder people try to avoid the process. I don't agree that people should go to the U.S. illegally, but I really can at least understand why they do it. There really needs to be some kind of immigration reform. It may not eliminate the illegal problem, but it should cut it down if people think they have a true shot at coming to the U.S. legally. -
No point pal just trying to lighten up the topic i see alot of hot air in these posts "ya all a bunch of Tree hugging bleeding commies!"

That's a perfect example.......
Had he been a farm worker....he could very easily bypassed the process and then jump the fence....
I agree the process needs to be revamped....
