Not to mention they will want to keep the bonues coming for the board, so the drivers will have to learn how to deliver loads without using fuel.

Sounds to me like the Swift driver was backing out of a rest area onto a road and was rear ended by the Yellow Freight truck. (Swift driver caused the accident).

From my understanding, he is in a wheel chair. I agree with you on the stupid lawsuits, but this guys will have huge expenses related to the accident for the rest of his life, not to mention the lawyers will take a huge chunk of that, plus I think he still has to pay taxes on that. After everybody takes their hands out of the cookie jar, I doubt the guy will make much more then he did when had his job and was able to freaking walk. Now his life is completely altered. I don't blame Swift since they have drug testing and it's not like they can babysit every loser out there. Ultimately, it was the meth heads fault but somebody is gonna have to make sure this guy has enough money to get him thru life, so it falls under Swift. It's a nobody win's situation. Again, I do agree with you on the stupid lawsuits that aren't gonna affect a person for life, such as burning your tougue on coffee.

This lawsuit could be an ominous sign for the entire industry.

Before a company could argue "due diligence" by proving that every driver is drug tested before hiring, and randomly throughout employment - and that would be enough.

    Maybe not anymore.
