    YAY 1,000th reply!
And 18wheelsofsteel said it right. You can ask others what they think of a place or this company etc, but everyone is different, and how they fit any given company will differ.
Stevens and I seem to fit pretty well. We've had our differences and such, but so far I'd say I made the right choice for me. I may not stay forever, but as long as things stay predictable and safe, I'll probably stay quite a while.
Tonight I drop this load that got me here from down south, and tomorrow I start doing regional hauls. Mostly short it seems, but often more than one a day. I'll let you guys know what's what as it goes along.
Welcome aboard 18wheelsofsteel and I hope you find Stevens as good a fit as I do.
Everyone keep the shiny side up!

naw, my first trainer was kraft dedicated, and we did that run twice a week. From aurora it was over to champagne and back to Ft worth. Many trucks run the route.

It is more about how one fits with the company, and how one deals with the people at the company than any thing else. I had troubles getting along with a DM after having one that I got along great with. I tried to make it work, but finally realized, that something had to change, so I requested a new DM.

The change has helped, we work good together, he understands my thoughts on repowers, and since getting established with him, I have done ZERO repowers. And my miles are up :biggrin_2555:. He sends me pre plans before I empty out at the final, and the loads fit with the hours I have available to drive. The only time I even get called and asked is when he is not at work. My answer has been no. This is the way I want to run, pick the load up, drive the miles, and deliver it... collect the extra stop pay, collect the detention pay for sleeping. 5 hours detention pay last week, this load I just finished today, 4 drops, 6 hours detention pay. That all adds up quite nicely when I only have 5 hours available to drive.

Every one be safe, Be smart, don't panic and do something stupid, there is always another solution...just not right in front of the nose at the moment.

Well my new truck won't be ready until monday afternoon (possibly), so I've decided to catch a flight home for the weekend. Will fly out of DFW friday afternoon and return monday afternoon.
Guess you have to sneak your time in when you can.
Got a chance to sneak a peak at one of the new 700's today. Looks good inside. Pretty much a 2000 with the 660 fenders and hood. Wide cabin, not like the 660.
I like the sleeper in the 2000/700 better than the 660 also. The table, the cabinets.
But it doesn't matter. The new ones are reserved for trainers.
    Stay cool everyone.
    Lunedi!

Well, doing my reset at the Nabisco in Chicago. Meeting an old buddy for dinner and a runaround tonight. I grew up in the area and out as far as Aurora, so I'm taking the time to see some old familiar sites and have an ElFarol burrito! Awesome!
    Then off to MI.
So far interesting on the fleet. No sitting around so far, except once, and enough miles. If I hadn't sat in Dallas for a week I'd be getting fuel bonus. Dang it.

Smokr, glad to hear things are going well for you on the dedicated fleet. They are keeping you moving and that is the name of the game.

Those of you who wished me well, thank you very much.

I really enjoyed the past two weeks at home with my family. On Tuesday I started with my new company which is Heyl. I am not going to post much about Heyl here as this is a Stevens board. I will be starting a Heyl thread and posting my adventures there.

This evening I find myself just outside of St. Louis at the Flying J. As luck would have it I was able to meet up with TleaHeart, break some bread, and enjoy some fellowship.

I must say I am really thankful for the skills I learned at Stevens. During OR2, finishing training, and grad fleet I absolutely hated sending in those trip plans before rolling. Trip planning has now become my best friend as I am now responsible for routing and managing my time.

Most importantly, I am thankful for the driving habits that I was able to develop. Stevens takes good driving practices and does their best to ensure they become habits.

Overall, I have no significant complaints about my time at Stevens. Did I get frustrated from time to time? Yes. I think that goes with any company. I feel I was treated fairly and professionally.

navyvet1994, TLeaHeart and Razorwyr Thank this.
