This "accident" may also be reported on his DAC report? Is that up to each individual company to report or not? How would someone go about checking the DAC report?

the accident will show up on his DMV record, first, and depending on how the cop wrote it up, he could have been hit with a" leaving the scene of an accident"........as for his DAC report, yes, it will also show up there as an accident he had while employed with the company. after whatever number of years your state clears driving records, 2, 3, 4, 5, whatever, that accident will drop off his DMV record, but NOT DAC.........
this accident may or may not appear on the CSA report. as it's only infractions for now. i cannot stress enough the importance of ALL drivers, new or old, to be super careful out there from NOW ON...........
but infractions, and accidents, will add up FAST to get someone FIRED and your hubby can join the thousands on the unemployment line by this time next summer.......NDBADLANDS and mcr1016 Thank this. -
OOPS no state "clears" records! They go to a different file. I STILL have tickets I got back in the 70's on my FULL CMV. Do not think that just because 3, 7, 10 years have passed that tickets disappear as they don't. It all depends on when the people wanting copies of an MVR ask for how many years back. You can ask for 3,7 10 or life time from the MVR. Go onto a military base and you'll see your WHOLE HISTORY of not only tickets but criminal also! Go through a hazmat background check and they see it all also! Don't believe for a second that this stuff disappears! They keep this stuff so if you really screw the pooch they can bring it back and say "see, he has a lead foot, likes to drink and drive, runs stop signs and lights and has run people off the road"
As to the poster. Get a lawyer or show up in court and fight it. You don't HAVE to show up as your lawyer can do that for you as it's only a traffic ticket. You CAN if you want.
Now as for directions on QC. some drivers will not send in a fix on some of them like adding a landmark for that intersection if it didn't warn you that the turn is just after a hard turn and be prepared to "set up" for this turn as "it tight" Remember a lot of people can't give directions or even follow them worth crapola!
Second on this turn, if it was or is a PITA and looks unsafe then forget it go down the road to a spot you can turn around safely at and come back to it. BUT send in better directions on that turn! If it's a tough decision go to the next option and go down the road. Yes you might put a few extra miles on the truck but that's a darn sight cheaper than fines and tickets! OR Thirdly, what was wrong with stopping, letting the traffic behind you come around and backing up 50' and then making a wide turn if this isn't a heavy traffic zone. OHHH! I hear you all going insane over this but that go down the road statement also got some feathers ruffled as "what if the next turn around isn't for 20 miles?" And Yeppers it's happened to yours truly! Sometimes a "snap" decision can hurt or help.
And as stated earlier it all rests on the driver!
Ready for my Tip of the day? NO?
Well I'll give it anyway. Before QC and all this fancy smacy pre written directions we always called whoever we were heading to. 800 numbers were a life saver! When I called I would ask for "land marks" that could help. especially if going for a few miles down a long road. EXCEPT for the turn at the white house! MOST houses in the country ARE white and have a road next to them! You need a little more information and in driving there is no such thing as To much info or TMI! Sometimes you just don't have it all!
Now with the advent of broad band for the laptop getting lost is impossible! If you get "lost" with all the information and ways to get it then you are having major problems!
Since QC came out and getting directions fell to "certain" people in the office some with that "blond" outlook I don't trust the QC any further than I can throw it or them! I'll bring up my mapping software and check the route out against the program and since I got that broadband card those satellite views took all the guess work out of getting there in one piece! The good thing about mapping programs you can save that route for future reference! the nice thing is you can print the map out and zoom into areas or have them on the screen for when you need to look. OK another argument just reared it's ugly head!
Whats the difference of looking at a paper map , a GPS or a computer?
Not much. They ALL require you to look away from the road. It's WHEN you look away that means the difference of"keeping you eye on the road" or being a "little" unsafe by a quick glance or being down right stupid and having to "figure" out what that map means!
I have no problem with anyone looking quickly for a few seconds at a map. It's the same as looking at your written directions or at the radio which I don't do as I am like pilots, astronauts and race car drivers that have all the buttons and switches in reach memorized so I don't have to look for them! I also use tactile stimuli on some so I know for certain I have the right one! It's the things that we need right then on paper that you need to search for and look at.
Maps should be within easy reach, folded to the section you need, or the map is on screen right where you need it and a quick look and back and yes that GPS keeping tract of where you are is a big plus as long as you have that "voice" telling you to turn and it's telling you to turn down the R/R tracts or a snowmobile trail turned off!
ost of you know I'm a NYC driver. My last two years of driving I knew where every one of my 17 drops were BUT my paper rand fold out map was always on the passenger seat ready to be picked up incase of traffic , wreck or construction. All I had to do was pick it up and look because it would be folded to the area I was in.
As I went along in my day and left the area I would refold it until I was out of the 5 and on my way! The best way to hold that map if driving is to hold it to how YOU look at maps. Some people just have to hold it so it matches what they are looking at. Me I can hold it with north at 12 oclock and because I'm good and been doing it for a few years, but if you hold it at chest level that is if your glasses don't need to be adjusted and lower you eyes only to look after 3 seconds and you've located your "spot" on the map put your thumb of the hand holding the map at that point and now you can drop your eyes and there you are and you can figure out where you are! All this in 3 second intervals but ONLY after looking at whats going on around you! Down the street, mirrors and side windows. Doing this at stop lights is the best as you can study if you have to. Or pull to the curb if you have to study. But you should have STUDIED before leaving, unloading or after waiting for the load! A few minutes of studying your route can make all the difference of making it to where you need to be not where you wound up! That being on top of a car, under a low bridge wrapped around a pole, in someones front yard or BFE and where God is the only one that can help! Just a few minutes even if it's a "tight" load or time frame! Not looking can really make you a "little" late. OK Map handling 101 is dismissed! LOL, look fast class! -
Yep, just heard from the lawyer. Out of the three violations he is mostly concerned with the one he where he left the scene of a accident. The other two he said were no big deal.
The retainer is $1500.00, but he is going to cut us a break, and is only going to charge $1000.00 for the retainer fee. He also feels that hubby's company should pay half the retainer fee. -
If the officer that wrote the citation does not show up for court than they judge must throw out the charges!
mcr1016 Thanks this. -
and typically all they will get is what the state provides. my state as an example goes back 3 years. i have never had any problems with any company when they ask for "the past 5 years" on the application, and i ONLY provide that 3 years, my state gives me. even on a DAC MVR report, they only get the years that the state provides. it does cost extra to go back in years for records. as a result, no too many companies i have dealt with pay that extra fee. but yes, as you did say, our driving record goes back to when we first got our license, at 16, 17, whatever.mcr1016 Thanks this.

That would be nice. But this is one of those small neighborhood cities where the police just wait for something like this to happen. I bet he will show up. Plus, I guess they even have a witness too since the police didn't see it happen.
