What's the stupidest thing you've ever had a dispatcher or office rat tell you?

(Dispatcher) "Hey buddy how's it going".

While I never did respond like this to any dispatchers, most of the time in my head it was "I'm not your buddy and it's going like ####".

I had to take off several weeks when my mother had surgery for cancer. My first trip back, after driving just short of the receiver, I stopped at a Flying J to get fuel and found that my fuel card was turned off.

It was 2100 so I called after hours support for a Comcheck. I was told "We can't do that because we've been ripped off before".

I told her to call the Flying J I was at and ask if there was a pissed off driver standing in front of a red Volvo at pump number 8 with my company's logo on it.

    She wouldn't do it!

In Chicago,in the 70's. Asked my dispacher if I could get a big truck to a place to make a pickup. He said "oh yes I take my car in there all the time". It was in a residential area.

Here are two of the most recent Gems.....

that's only 900 miles (Bridgeville, DE to Bells, TN). That should not take more than 13 hours...in my 65mph truck, thru DC and the countryside of DE. Which by the way is slightly more than 69mph, which my truck is not capable of doing, and even if it was, not so on the east cost.

I can't be dispatched on certain loads, since I don't drive my 11 straight through, other than maybe a 10 min fuel stop. My answer to that one was if she stayed chained to her desk without bathroom breaks too.

Oh, and one of my favorites.....but the weather isn't that bad here (in the Midwest), as I am trying to drive across WY in high winds and snow, and finally give up and park

I understand why there is a Us v. Them attitude but the problems is on both sides of the fence.

The list of dumb things I have been told by drivers as a dispatcher is long. There are equally the same number of things I have been told by a dispatcher.

I guess trucking is just a dumb profession all around.

A few years back i had a dispatcher try to convince me that after being off my 10 hrs D.O.T. regs say i have to go right back on duty, I just laughed at him as i was hanging up the phone on him.

"The road is open and clear"... less than 24 hours after one of the blizzards that hit Denver in 06.... the road were covered in 6 inch of hardpacked snow, and snow was blowing from drifts along the highway.
