I have seen a lot of stupid things done by companies on these posts, but your friend being assigned to Chattanooga terminal when he was from northern Indiana is nuts. If he signed on with Werner knowing that was the nearest terminal shame on him, but Werner does have terminals in Indy and Springfield OH. After reading the beginning post of this thread then this one -- Werner is so far down my list I will take a job as a clerk at the local 'Stop n Rob' before signing on with them. :biggrin_25521:

Truckerswife, still file your unemployment as you were wrongfully discharged. File as laid off due to Werner not informing you of your separation. It will come back to bite Werner, it will take some time & you will have a court hearing. Have all your documentation. I beat JB Hunt in a similar situation where they had me waiting while they investigated an accident, I had only witnessed & was cleared several weeks past. I filed for unemployment & was granted, then JB Hunt tried back dating a Suspension. The employment office continued paying me & when it went to the court hearing, JB Hunt withdrew their claim. I have Pre-Paid-Legal which covers me & my family on the road & at home for $26 per month, for all legal issues not just driving.

'Stop n Rob', that was hilarious! Dying from laughter!

Also, that guy in the Hooters shirt; that's just wrong! Hooters doesn't even serve enough strong beer for me to be able to pull that stunt! Kudos to the brave guy with the big gut in such as small shirt! :biggrin_2559:

I've been trying to get to the trainer class since 5/20/2010. Since it is 6/22/2010 now, it has been a month. Every week, they get me near a terminal and get me a load going the wrong way. Last week i was in Atlanta on tuesday, class is wednesday every week. They gave me a load going to NC, said they'd do it next week. They don't have a clue.

I'm leaving this week. Finally. Good riddance. :)

By the way, i am trying to figure out why the OP called a tow truck on their own? .... ? Why?

It sucks you went thru this, but if it were me, i'd have not put up with that for a week (once you finished training that is).

As far as the choices you made...you chose to buy a $300+ plane ticket rather than stick it out in a hotel. You were there to train. Now i'm not saying 'stay there and let your trainer walk all over you'. But if you're with a trainer for 6 weeks (or 200 loaded driving hours, etc.) then thats what you're there to do. You were training, the MOST i'd have taken on a mentor's truck would be my laptop and a week worth of clothing and a backpack for toiletries. anything extra was not needed. GPS, whatever. The mentor should have a commercial atlas, tools, etc. Not blaming you for the loss, or the theft, but why on earth would you need all the stuff on a trainers truck you would have only when you'd need that when you went solo?

I've heard stores about Werner, going thur their training, then being told your choices are to go home and wait for a truck, or go back out with a trainer. Not to mention the first time i was told one thing, like being reimbursed for expenses, and wasnt, or was told "oh we set up your hotel" then find out you have ot sleep in the truck.....i'd have parted ways the soonest i could.

They only give you what you will take. You have to plant your feet and stick by it. I'n in a day cab I will not pay for the room, you will and I will not mive the truck till my 10 hours off are complete.

Same with tow bills. Its not my truck I'm not paying the tow bill.

As far as personal loss, Well as a student you should only have your clothes and personal toiletries with you.

Most of this happened to you because you allow it to. Cold maybe but that is trucking at its finest. You trust no one, believe no one.

1951 you can count me as one of the drivers that learned something. this forum has probably saved me a lifetime of pain because up until now, i was figuring this winter i'm upgrading from a cdl B to a cdl A, and then i'll lease a truck because i want more money, and i wanna own my truck. hahaha! i bet some of you are laughing hard at that, and i am too now. cuz this site has taught me it is not even remotely that easy and you might even get completely screwed!!

if anything this board has gotten me to appreciate my job MUCH MUCH more. i'm making 600$ a week salary i work 5 days a week, it sucks because i am putting in about 10 hours a day but when the summer ends it should slow down. and 2 hours of that are just driving to the start of the route and getting back to the plant which i cant honestly call work. once i'm done with my route, i go home. i dont even fill my truck with gas a gas truck comes and does it for us. a company wash's our trucks, and every two weeks someone comes and cleans the cabs for us too. i have been getting a little mad about the overtime i'm putting in and not getting paid, but according to my boss it will even out in the fall winter and spring.
