Thanks for setting me straight...
Your profession still continues to be the only one (really, the only one!) that I am jealous of...What a terrific job, to get paid for driving all over, singing to your choice of music, and not having to watch the clock for a smoke break!...I am the one in the little car, driving only as far as my bank account allows, drooling and dreaming everytime I pass one of you...Appreciate and enjoy your jobs, and keep up the well-mannered, beautiful driving...

Why the *&$% would a Swift need to know where the bears are? PJ, you need to get your facts straight. A governed truck (62 for Swift) doesn't care where the bears are. It's almost always high-speed independent operators who spent too much time in the truck stop jabbering or hanging out with lizards who need to find out where they can get away with speeding.

Same goes for JB (61mph) and most Werners (62 mph)

You b**** on and on about this company or that company, call them "bottom feeders" so you can try to fit in with the Good Ol' Boys, smack down on their drivers any chance you get, but forget that everyone has to start somewhere...and there are even some of us who deliberately return to said "bottom feeder" companies because we have found through experience that we are actually treated better there than at some independent with crappy equipment and solo loads scheduled for teams.

Been there done that. I'd rather work for Swift than some little company you consider to be prestigious with s****y equipment and poor business practices that keep the company small or cause it to go under completely.

I think the reason so many independent drivers complain so loudly and lengthily about Swift, JB, et al, is because they know they can't be hired by them because of their safety records (or maybe they were fired by said companies for too many safety violations) and they are jealous that someone actually started with three trucks and now runs 17,000. You only wish you could be that successful.

Gawd! I'm tired of hearing it! How about showing a little friendliness to new drivers rather than flame them every single chance you get, even in unrelated and irrelevant threads, for their choice of company? Would you rather keep them on the outside and ignorant or have a chance to teach them a thing or two so they can learn how to be safe?

To the OP: thank you for the flowers...It's really nice to hear something positive from the "general public" and I welcome it any time someone says something like you did.

    Thank you again.

Well ya know even when I was with Werner and Celadon both governed trucks I asked for bear reports etc...so that I could pass on the info to someone else. When i started driving for the mom and pop with the crappy equipment that could smoke you easy on a grade fully loaded you bet your axx I wanted to know where the bears were. And it wasn't because I sat in the truck stop too long and I was NEVER with any of those walking disease factories......it was because I had to get places because we were always tight on time strict deadlines and it never seemed like there was enough. And I'll stand by my earlier post that most drivers are courteous. Ever had a bad day, did you ever miss somebody flash ya, I prefer to use the cb to flashing because then you KNOW the person is saying there's enough room.

But back to KYAG Thank you for your considerate post and your thanks....we spend our time is a moving prison with ever changing scenery...it has it's good points and bad...just like anything else in life...but once again Thank You and be safe

ps dont drool when you drive people might think theres something wrong with ya:biggrin_25525:

    Thank you KYAG......
Most of us try to be courteous....and some of us will even stop if we see a 4-wheeler stranded.....to pay it forward............

and if you've seen the qualcomm messages, they also dont want you to look other drivers passing you (either with you or on 2 lane roads) they want you to keep your eyes on the road. well no kidding. I can understand that, but as far as the flashing part, sorry, my pops was a driver for 30 years. he flashes in his mini-van...so i know WHY you flash at drivers. If you read my post, i dont use high beams at night, ever. I'll bump them during the day. Why? cause its easier to pick up when the sun is out....that is if the passing driver even pays attention to his right hand mirror....which some dont.

as far as 'the 4-wheelers behind me will wait'. yeah, they will. But why? just cause you are tired of being bullied in jr. high, and now its your turn to be the bully? Is it really professional to stack the cars up behind you, putting them in jeopardy of running into the back of another car (yeah, it'd be their fault anyway), when you could have prevented the situation by seeing another drive flash ya over to clear the lane, and let the traffic by, rather than take the "i've got more lugnuts than you, i own the road" attitude? thats just dumb. i'm almost to the point....screw bear reports, screw warning of 18 wheelers broke down on the side of the road, screw the flashing...i'm thinkin' bout taking the attitude most drivers have....i own the road.

and how the heck do u know its only JB Hunt and swift drivers asking for bear reports? I hardly think they even care. Sure there might be a few, but the ones who are asking for the status of chicken houses and bear reports are the drivers who can drive 70mph, weigh 90k and ran out of hours sometime last week.

When I was still OTR I used to get a kick out of the 80 mph rigs that would blow my doors off going south on I-75, then and hour later the same truck would come blasting by...... hour later there he is again. They apparently had to run that fast 'cause they couldn't keep the doors closed.

Just wished a few showed the same manners when fueling up at gas stations quite a few times i've come in to fuel and had some cowboy park his truck up in front and go and do all his shopping while blocking off anyone from driving through you'd think Gas stations would have some kind of rule inforcing trucks to buzz off and park where there not blocking other truckers fueling
