About 749 HP at the crank. Welcome to real world..
I used Fox's formula, for my truck it gives the closest numbers compared to dyno tests.

Pulling our '78 Kenworth w900a; KTA600 flexing it's muscles....mind if I smoke?

in what state can i smoke in,that looks fun,i need to get out of this liberal state of California and have some fun. TRIG

That video was taken in Quarryville, PA. We set up the fuel system on this truck in a way that we can scale back the rail pressure to keep the "Al Gore" types happy while we're traveling over the road. She still smokes under a load when we cut it back, but not nearly as much as in the video.
Stay away from New Jersey - no smoking there at all.... -
I have used all the calculators, it does not seem right, low hp. Last year I ran a 15.55 at 86 mph with my K/W. I put the truck the dyno and got 1074hp at the wheels at 3/4 throttle, the dyno would not hold it. The dyno was rated at 1000hp. It is a water turbine and calibrated well at the Cat dealer here.
Are the calculators allowing for wind resistance of a transport truck? Is it accurate at a 19000 lb weight? -
Do you get all that power out of the engine when bobtailing or only on lugdown type dyno?
Maybe 1/8 mile mph is more accurate because aerodynamics has less effect? Weight shouldn't matter with those formulas.Last edited: Aug 24, 2010

Engine is under full load after first shift, boost is up to full. Only have to pedal during launch to keep tires from spinning.
