Hello,
IM A FRIEND OF Girlygurls... and I work on a construction crew. We work mostly on the freeways but Im here to request caution to all the drivers... Of course I can not request caution from people who drive regular cars/trucks because they dont seem to care or acknowledge how truly dangerous it is for us (as in you, Truckers & the crew, us) out there.
Last week I was working on a bridge with a steep slope and noticed NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE slow down for us. The patrolman said he gave 10 tickets out in a matter of 2 hours just thru our site.
Im a female with hair right below my shoulders and when a truck drove passed me I could have sworn he was close enough that my hair hit the trailer, He too was flying thru...
All we ask is for a brake and caution when driving passed us. We trust in you to keep us alive and WE TRULY DONT want to hold you up or keep you from traveling. We all notice your speed and appreciate the "slowies", we REALLY do....Thanks for taking your time and being safe.!! Julz

There is no excuse for blasting thru a construction zone, none whatsoever.
I have noticed a wave or two from you guys saying thankyou. BTW, you're welcome.
girlygurl and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
Good post, I'll be sure to bake it down when coming threw!
simplyred1962 and girlygurl Thank this. -
We all are, or should be, aware that "junk" accumulates in the approach/exit to construction zones from the people that they "sneek up on" when they scrub the barriers. Junk that could potentially blow a tire. SLOW DOWN!!! This lady stands a fighting chance to get outta the way if you blow a steer tire at 45mph. Not to mention your increased chances of keeping it under control at this speed. 65mph? One of you, possibly both, isn't going home. We ALL deserve to live another day. Your freight isn't that important.
girlygurl and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
Thanks so much you guys/gals... She and the rest of her crew really appreciate the caution(s). I too used to work on the freeways and it can be brutal at times. Because of the mountains they cant slow to anything under 55 but it would sure help even if the cars slowed a bit. I also worked with some of the dump truck drivers that couldnt speak English and that was difficult for us all. The crew was very frustrated and the drivers chose to do it "their" way because they couldnt understand the instructions.
A few were signed out and cried raciest but if you are a potential hazard on the job, we cant afford to be killed. Learn English please!!! RANT!!!
Oh, try and stay in your lane dont veer off onto the shoulder to much- I have picked up some very sharp objects !!!larryaz, simplyred1962 and johnday Thank this. -
It's amazing how many time i hear people on the cb telling other trucks , hey your in a construction zone, are you that so late you have to speed thru it? The reply, ## DRIVER, YOU DRIVE YOUR OWN TRUCK.
I guess those speeding trucks , have never had friends or family who have worked in construction zones. And haven't had to deal with injuries and or death to said firends and or family.
Some drivers, are just ignorant.simplyred1962, girlygurl and Marksteven Thank this. -
and this goes for areas where "emergency vehicles" are on the side of the road also..
Not blasting construction areas, but they tend to have about 1 mile of cones, and when I am working wrecks or picking up disabled vehicles, I get no respect either.
What ever happened to common sense while driving, if there is something or someone on the side of the road, you slowed down or moved over...
Flashing lights today, seem to mean "TARGET" instead of be carefulsimplyred1962, larryaz and girlygurl Thank this. -
Oh i hear ya. I have seen trucks failed to move over for maint. trucks, cops, wreckers, when there is no one in the left lane.
I guess it takes to much out of thier hectic day to get over into the other lane iff possible. Some states are now inclyding wreckers under thier respective Move Over Laws.girlygurl and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
and I "HONESTLY THINK" that most people ONLY KNOW 1 LANE to drive in and if you move them out of that lane they become stupid, lost, or (insert your own word here)
girlygurl and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
Very true comment!! Between Officers, Tow crews and even people who are trying to fix their own flats, people just dont think or care.
If someone on the road just happens to trip or fall accidently.. Its all over and its gonna be ugly!!!
It happenes with cycles too, they ride so close to the white line when there is no bike lane, so scary to me because I remember back when I was young I fell off my bike into the road and if a car wouldve been there...yikes!! It doesnt take but a second to kill someone.johnday Thanks this.
