hey guys, i've been thinking of going with either of these companys. im kinda leaning towards stevens but i've read about there physical and people having probs with it. i've had back surgery to take care of a pinched nerve, ruptured disk(doesnt bother me at all anymore) that was about 4 years ago and i had surgery on my left elbow 15 years ago. the back surgery was from a work injury so it was workers comp claim. does anybody know if that will be a prob with stevens. i do like schneider as well, they both start out paying the same. i do like how schneider has more options tho as far as tankers go. im just trying to see which the better choice would be in the long run.

The only exposure I've had with Stevens was the "salesman" I met for them. The guy had a line longer than my arm, and couldn't even look at you when talking/lying.

I was with SNI for 1 1/2 years, and would go back in a heartbeat if I could.
The surgeries you mentioned shouldn't have anything to do with you being hired, as long as you can pass the physical.:biggrin_25525:

Stevens being self insured for workers comp, Texas Law, they are much more strick on medical issues, and past surgeries. I suspect you would be put on medical hold, until the Stevens doctor clears you for your back surgery. They do NOT take the word of another doctor. So you are good to be concerned. Now the recruiter will tell you no problem, but I have seen it over and over, medical getting drivers sent home.

Is it still Doc Holiday over at Stevens? Even if you do get through they will probably put you on 90 day checks.

i trained with stevens,'05...thats all they are good for!..too many rules regulations and they nickel and dime you out of your pay every week!.now im with schneider on the choice program (o/op) doing very well.....schneider is your best bet. more freight= more miles, major accounts, about 95%drop/hook, stevens is refrigerated...which is mostly live load/unload...yuk! hurry up and wait!...good luck

I think those are the 2 things you have to consider with Stevens; they are a training company first and foremost and their loads are live load/unload. So lots of time wasted on appointments at grocery warehouses and they generally have a lot of extra time on each load. If you can get on with a dry van outfit with a lot of drop hook you can really bang out the miles. BUT, Stevens is one of the better training companies for the total noobie.
