Thanks, I am female but same rules of looking neat and clean apply. I just wasn't sure if khakis (spelling?) would be a better choice. I am sure this sounds so trivial to alot of the truckers here but i have honestly given this alot of thought! lol

This on top of rollover said; pull up your freekin jean's i myself dont care too see what brand of boxer's you support, my arsenal of clotheing, insulated overalls for the cooler's , when i did reefer's, hard toe tenny shoes for certain dry loads, (metal) coils, brake drums, ects, i always carry more then i needed, i like too make a good impression, nice plaid shirt , or if i was doing heinze a white shirt and black pants , kinda follwed there dress code, cause i was unloading in there docks, so for you i would see what the weather would like there, were a nice plain shirt and jeans , wear it like you dont care , if it get thrashed, nice pair of cat boots,or good tenny's, but if im going out first time i go with boots, this shows you want the job,
NDBADLANDS Thanks this. -
We have drivers putting in applications wearing saggy shorts, flip flops and a ball cap worn sideways and a huge gold chain hanging around the neck. I see the bosses eyes as the applicant borrows a pen to make out an application using the companies phone book to find numbers and addresses from companies they should have been writing the address on their log book for years...
They don't get the job.
Not judging anyone but it is the way it is.
I walked into a company and was hired and in the truck hauling before I had filled out an application! Why? Because I look like I just walked off the fuel island instead of the fashion statement runway! I look like a trucker, not a Rap Star!
And learn to speak without using the term "Know what I'm saying?" 275 times per paragraph. Communication...what a concept!NDBADLANDS, Everett, HEAVY DUDE and 5 others Thank this. -
Well said.

I chose a standard "uniform" : Dickies buttoned workshirts, decent but cheap jeans, wellington boots. All available at Wally World. Personally, I add an old (but clean) western hat. It keeps the sun and drizzle off my glasses.
Many DM and customers have commented they wish their drivers would dress professionally. We had tons of guys in shorts, or ripped up junk.Everett and NDBADLANDS Thank this. -
I worked in a wholesale/retail for a few years and worked the counter. People would come in and fill out a job app and if they didn't impress me the app got folded in half that was the signal to not bother looking at it.
I had ppl come in reeking of pot or booze applying for delivery positions! Some would bring kids or friends most just looked like crap! Dirty ripped up clothes, pants hanging down to the knees, women with their boobs hanging out a tatted up, half shirts ect, ect.
Clean blue jeans and a button shirt or a polo shirt is good for just about any trucking coNDBADLANDS and Everett Thank this. -
Yeah Dude, just wear clean clothes and shoes boots. Boots are more impresive than tennies. Long pants more so than shorts. Be sure to have a pen and paper at the ready, probably 2 pens. Carry your "paperwork" in a folder or small briefcase. Act/look like you mean business and are a professional. Believe me, you'll impress the powers that be. Have a pair of gloves tucked in your pocket somehow, because nothing is more aggravating than to take your roadtest/pretrip and have to get greasy with nothing to wipe your hands on except your pants.
Everett Thanks this. -
What about wearing a Truckers Tee ?????.......with pictures of trucks on the front or back ??????..........

I use to hire people and the rules were clean clothes no pics or logos. no political stuff at all.if there was check mark on the app you were done.
NDBADLANDS and Everett Thank this. -
