From what I've seen 9pm is the latest you wanna pull into most truck stops. And rest areas can be crammed anytime of the day(not much space).
Night driving is relaxing(if you can stay up all night while driving). That is technically my preference as well, but I won't go near that until I'm done with EVO 3. Only main downside to it is that after hours dispatch sucks, not to mention, you'd never get to talk to your FM(fleet manager).
From what I've seen, EZ-Pass is on all the Roehl trucks. I thought it was an option for the driver before where you were charged a dollar a week, but my truck came with it and there has been no charge.
You'll get it all figured out tho. Just give it time. I know you're itching for all the info you can get, but just wait, your head will be ready to explode after the first week of school.

Well, they won't. How much you get paid for your time, is exactly how much Roehl cares about it. If you get Nada, they care nada.
No one can help, in regards to how much this lack of respect for your time discomforts you financially. My vote is to learn to love poking dispatch with a stick. Take it easy. use Roehl-math to figure out when you'll be anywhere. Call them on it when the math doesn't equal the plan...
yeah, that 1400 appointment for this load? I'll likely be there by 1600.
1600 IS UNACCEPTABLE, THEY CLOSE AT 1530.
well, i could've made that, if i hadn't just spent 25 minutes on hold.
Have fun, plenty of laughs to be had, many at Roehl's expense.
However, my primary motivation is a lack of stress, not finances. because I love poking dispatch with a stick.
WHY WERE YOU LATE?
wasn't late. i told you i'd be there at 1600.
AND I TOLD YOU THEY CLOSED AT 1530.
hence the reason i'm not late, they're just closed. should i wait till morning, or head back to the shipper?
WAIT TILL MORNING. WHAT COULD YOU HAVE DONE TO GET THERE ON TIME?
well, if i was planned better, that would have helped.
because you can almost say anything, as long as you can smile while you say it, and not swear. They simply don't know how to respond.
Now, I lose a an evening of work, sure. But, in my head, I was gonna be waiting untill 0900 for a load anyway. and this way, I had some fun on the path.
But, no one cares about your time, but you. So it's really up to you what you do with it.wiseguy3501 Thanks this. -
LMAO.... Too Funny,,, But they are fun to play with arent they

That is pretty good. Gotta have some fun with all of it, otherwise you'd just go insane.

Which here is the appropriate smiley.....lol -
well, too start I've been making a little money, but with the breakdown time it could've been much better. I graduated from RDTC here at Roehl in the beginning of July. Been home nicely when I requested. I've stayed out about 17 to 18 days for the 2 times since going on my own. it has been ok and i'm still here. What I mean is that there has not been anything to make me want to run away yet. Roehl is a decent company with its own set of querks. Like all trucking companies out there. I've heard from drivers with both good and bad to say, but mostly even the bad are still here and sticking with this company. An older driver said something to me that made a lot of sense, "ask the guys in the driver's lounge who are up there complaining so much why they are still here if it is as bad as they were saying." Makes a lot of sense to me!
Overall I was at school for 3 weeks then home for a week and a half. Was a little longer home then I had inteded, but not horrible. I mean I was spending time with the family!
First trainer was out with him for 11 days then home for 3 then out for 7 more when they pulled me out his truck and placed me with this "real gem" of a trainer...
paoldschool??? is him. I was with him for 4 days then out for a week on my own. So I had 22 days out with trainers. Now I'm here at Marshfield finishing up securement training today and loaded my truck with the straps and equipment available. no tarps... lol
Only thing I can say that will help is remember to breathe and practice the prescreen health exam activities before you get here. Other than that you'll be fine. I can let you know more as I get rolling with this skateboard! wooo woooo!

I laughed!

Hindsy, hows things going. I'll be finishing classes on Sept 10 and have my pre-hire from Roehl, Werner, and a few others. My preference is Roehl from everything I've read and heard. Just wanted to see if things were going well for you and what you thought. The only problem is that Roehl advised me that there orientation is booked until Oct 20th which is a bit long for me to wait as I need the paycheck. Also need your truck number to list list as my referral (Send PM) BTW we spoke previousley about this but I've changed my Username as it made it easy to ID me. I haven't made enough post to be able to send messages.

Every terminal i pull in is having orientations so that might be right, I know when i started here i waited 30 days to attend the orientation in ellenwood, which is my home terminal but they said i could go to Gary or marshfield earlier if i wanted, i enjoyed the time off between school and orientation but i know all to well how hard it was money wise as well.
