I WAS thinking about signing up at Smith & Solomon in Linden before reading a 6 page thread about them here. People said Winsor in Linden was much better and could really use some opinions on them.

Also a little further down the road from me at Middlesex County College they're website shows a 176 hr CDL-A training course but I went there several mths back and they told me due to a lack of students they discontinued the program. I guess I'll have to call again to see. Any MCC truck grads out there?

Any thoughts on ANY good trucking schools in the Linden area is appreciated too.

Also I might just go for the straight truck training and could use some thoughts on that or whether that's just a waste of time since as I understand it I could just go take the test at DMV and get a license fairly easily

S & S are a F**king J-O-K-E!!! Lines of people WAITING around all day to get 5 to 10 minutes of actual training behind the wheel, total BULLSh**!

Got my CDL Class A 3 years ago at Winsor, nothing but good things to say about them. Best 2 teachers there where 2 long-time trucking vets, Scott (still there) and Frank (who has since moved on) both guys were hard-core no nonsense get down to learning/driving everyday, all day long - One-on-one training!

Not the best equipment out there but you WILL LEARN TO DRIVE if you put yourself into it. The ones who show up to collect extended unemployment get kicked to the curb. Owner is one tough prick S.O.B. and loves trucking - he weeds out "unemployment hounds" he is from yugoslavia and detests "lazy americans" (reminds me of my uncle, also from Yugoslavia and a very hard worker) now you might say, why do you even respect this dude since he's cleary biased? I'll tell you why, I have a great work ethic and I too, cannot stand ANYONE who does not take their job or training seriously! From day one, the owner knew I wanted it bad enough and then clearly went out of his way to make sure I got in my truck and practiced EVERYDAY, the other idiots who did not take it seriously got kicked out ASAP! I respect that!

One young guy who started same day as me wanted it SUPER BAD, and passed his road test one week before anyone else!

Only other place that is as good (and maybe has better equipment) is Jersey Tractor Trailer in East Rutherford NJ. They are fairly expensive though.

Go to a place that allows one on one training, the ONLY way to learn dude and good luck!

    Hey ZeeSchnogun,
How was the road test? I heard they test you in an automatic truck and the road test is 2 miles long in Lawrenceville. Is that true?
