Appreciate the advice. Im a pretty easy going guy. It takes alot to aggrevate or piss me off. Im the type that goes to work.. gets a #### deal.. and says to myself... Well its got to get done. Just do it and get it over with.
I actually would prefer to get lesser miles like that to start off. I think it makes it an easier transition to get used to. I can spread my wings later when I know wtf i'm doing out there =)

You will have your mental state tested on the road.
You are alone with your thoughts all day every day.
Every little thing will bother you over time if you let that one little nagging thought in.
This is one of the things nobody ever thinks of when they go on the road. They have never been alone like this for so many hours/ days at a time.
It is part of what makes it so hard on marriages and other relationships.
Also can make you more critical of your dispatcher/ company if you let it.
Never let negative thoughts get to you on the road. If you start to see a possible issue, talk about it now. Do not wait and let your mind make it huge.frankreno, mikley28, The Challenger and 3 others Thank this. -
Good advice. Even though I am married I have always been pretty much a loner. My wife and I worked opposite shifts. I have a very small friend pool. I am to my own thoughts quite a bit actually lol. I think I talk more on internet forums then I do with speech to people. I know what you mean. -

Up late waiting on 1bad to get back into town so I can go pick him up. Been a heck of a week for him and his new truck and he is really sick on top of everything else to boot. Aaaaaahhhhhh the life of a trucker wife. Still looking for a job here in our new hometown. Hopefully something will pan out soon. Got a DOT physical tomorrow to go back to driving a bus. Wish me luck. With the way my blood pressure has been lately I'm a little nervous. Deep breaths on the way hopefully that will work. Keep the rubber side down and between the yellow lines boys!

Widow, I would not worry about a thing. You'll do fine. Avoid caffeine, just drink water, and you will do just fine.
KHnewtruckerwidow Thanks this. -
Drink alot of water and stay away from caffeign. Water will help lower blood pressure. Eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich or something too... banana or anything nutricious. -
It all depends on your attitude. if you keep good relations with your fleet manager. and deliver the load on time . if you dont complaint about dead head miles and short miles load. you will get rewarded.
you ll see alots of complaints from drivers If you are reading the treats for long enough.
probably i am the only one who dont have a bit comp;aint about the central and miles.
i have graduated from school dec 31 2009.i am on dedicated route almost since my orientation.
i leased my truck and i avarage 4500-7200 miles a week with my driver.
never less than 4500 miles. youll get the miles if you have good work ethic, and respectful person and dont complaint about little things.
if you are mature enogh you can see from the treats why some drivers dont get the miles. even in the dedicated route.
work ethic, attitude, respect others (including self respect) gets you the miles. i dont care who says what.
just ask those who have complaints about the central or the miles. WHY DONT YOU QUIT ?
they cant because most of them are not able to find another job.
and most of them forgot they were unemployed. thats why they are working for central. and some of them still dont know how to do pretrip inspection and act like a pro to newcomers. being a trucker is not holding the streering wheel or blow a horn.
good luck to you.frankreno Thanks this. -
