That is a bit odd. When I went to them for all off 11 weeks, they never even did a road test with me. But I did have more experience, some guys in ornamentation only had less than 6 months, IIRC, and they never got a test either. Something may have changed since I was there.

 

Well I don't know much about USX, as for WERNER, Went there as an expierenced drvr. 19 days later turned their truck back over to them. Was told would make 36.5 cents per mile loaded and empty as OTR all 48 states. Turns out .15 cpm empty. The comments about the trucks, safety and maintence are true, at least from what I saw. Did'nt care for the forced dispatch. With Werner dedicated accounts are were the money is BUT, there are waiting list some as long as 6 months, or longer. So ask yourself "How long can I afford to be broke?" I was with Swift for 3 years, not bad company, I just wanted more "space" a smaller company offers. I'm with AD Transport Express now, Nice equipment (My T-600) is a 2004,
but looks real nice inside and out, Good people, who listen, Good pay. ($.40 cpm) more on short hauls, monthly safety bonus. OH and 68 mph not to shabby ethier.

 

yeah i go to swift next week. i have a friend of the family who has been with them for 32 years so im guessing swift cant be to bad. but yeah they told .32c a mile so i guess we shall see

i read this guys post last night about werner. so go read this if your interested. its in the bad section its called Werner Long Story But True. please read that very detailed

 

not a very good career to get into if you have young kids, maybe when they get older atleast that way you can take them on the truck

 

I worked for USX for 8 years or more, had a great time with them, but than am out going type of girl, didn,t care who I spoke to, we all put ower pants on the same way..LOL..Every company have there own rules, none are the same, you treat them right and they will do the same with you, it,s all the way you look at things. if your a pain in the butt to any company, they will treat you the same way! Go to ripoff.com and put in any trucking company you want,this will help you,just don,t belive every thing you read, the bigger the company the more complants you will see. WEED out the liers,alot of them just started driving,and have no idea what there talking about....sorry to say I don,t no how many Werner truck,I,ve had to park,while I worked for USX,and they also had to use electronic on board recorder, why? way to many lies on there log books..they almost got shut down for that..I hear things are better now.....I,am working for a smaller company now. less stress and no pushing by dipatchers......Good Luck on your hunt......also check out FMCSA 2010...it might help you.
