Isn't this true throughout society, though? ...and it's true on the 'hardtail' side, too.
I've worked for/alongside/with women most all my working days, as well as white/black/brown. If someone does the job, let 'em. Doesn't matter to me gender/race/ethnic origin, etc. There's dirtbags across all strata of life. People w/ money are as rude as those w/o. In fact, I've seen more 'poor' people who are richer than those w/ big bank accounts.

If you get past the Giant Pilot in Jamestown NM (I-40 x 39) the gift shop in there has a nice selection of stun guns. That's where I got mine, and got one for my adult daughter who lives in Houston.

KEEP IN MIND all types of self defense weapons (stun gun, taser, mace, pepper spray) will get you a FELONY charge in NY state. Ya think? The one place you might want to have a backup plan.

Once you get it, do a little research and be ready to use it. There are tender parts that take a beating better than others. Kidneys come to mind. You want to make them do the chicken. Don't be afraid to hurt them. Women sometimes have a problem with this.

When you move in the truckstop, rest area, bad neighborhood, creepy shipper or consignee, never, never, never!!!!wear shoes that you can't run in.....flip flops? dainty sandals? crocs? any type of fashion heel or heaven forbid, barefoot (I've seen it) NOOOOOOOOOO!

I don't know about you but wearing heels in a truck that would be tough. But then again the spike would make a good weapon if provoked.

Smurfette, perhaps you missed my intention in my post. I could certainly DRIVE my truck in heels, I was just making a sugestion to NEW DRIVERS such as yourself, that may not have the sense to dress for the occasion.

I have seen Daisy Dukes, weggie heels, Seventh Day Adventist long skirts, shower shoes, bare feet, and all other matter of girly getup that might prevent a woman from making the fastest of getaways she possibly could. Daytime? No problem. Team with your husband? Great! Female solo? Gee, I've been doing this for a bit of time and spent 22 years taxiing in Los Angeles. Take my advice for what it's worth or not.

Guess what? Martha Stewart has really big ta ta's. I have this on word from my friend who works at SiriusXM and has seen her in person. She has the good sense, taste and is interest in her public image to dress down her ample bossom. SHE WANTS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY! I agree.

I have spent my entire life in male dominated industry. I've never had a problem because I came to work. I can't help it if it's where the boys are!:biggrin_25525:

I'm not a "looker" just decent and interesting. But I'm still the girl that guys would talk to because they're curious about the middle aged woman driving the truck, not the chick who looks like she needs to be serviced.

I don't have problems in truck stops and I fill my log book out in the front with curtains open without fear. I walk across the lot like I own the place, do my business and go back to my truck. I do not carry any weapon, stun gun or otherwise that can be taken away and used on me. If I'm in a particularly rough area, I clip a small knife to my pocket. And then proceed as above.

People looking to cause trouble seek out those who exude weakness. They are usually cowards, so will make a sneak attack. Therefore, walk with confidence with your head up, shoulders back and with purposeful movement. Be looking around so whoever is watching knows you are aware of your surroundings. This by itself is almost always deterent enough. For those whom this does not work on, carry whatever "weapon" you choose and they won't care.

The best thing you can do to protect yourself is don't invite the attack in the first place. Do not flirt on the radio, talk about how well endowed you are, make comments about another driver's looks, get involved in "sex talk" or disrespect anyone...including yourself...on that squawk box. Do not be seen "checking out" other drivers. If you want respect, you have to show it. And that means expecially respecting yourself.
