now this post is a little different it concerns those drivers wanting to buy there own truck and for those that might want to Sue me for using your name feel free id be glad to dance with you in court.

first of all your going to have problem financing a truck most banks and finance company's are not lending period and it has nothing to do with your credit it's the banks and the economy but the banks make the economy what it is so don;t blame yourself it's the banks an the us congress.

now the first thing your going to come across is the application here something you don't know about the application TO MUCH INFORMATION the bank has no business with you personal banking information or anybody else for that matter you don't pay for a truck from your personal bank account the truck makes it's own money and pays for itself when you give them this type of information they can go into your account any time they please and just help them selves , not a good thing.

401k and savings accounts , they don't need to know none of there business but they all ask,why would you give that kind of information it just gives them access to your savings , you really want that?

banks have all got together or most and pooled there trucks in one or more locations so that they are convienant to get at there all repo's and there are a lot of them one such location is atlanta ga they have at last count 525 trucks and trailers , but try to buy one i tried to buy one for cash they wouldn't even give me a price they don't sell for cash they ake more money if it's financed the dealer that handels those is bulldog truck sales now there a peice of work if im not mistaken on there appication tey want your first born as so called security.

why do they want all this informatio? simple when they go to repo the truck they can find it easier ad they can put a lean on your bank account to get there money.

another such company is truck discount out of pa nice people but they lie a lot and ther application is just as bad or worse.

in other words they banks want you to pay for there mistakes and if you fill out one of those applcation if your not carfefull you will.

can you do anything about it ? nope not that i no of but you do need to be aware of what your up against, the days of the honest banker are long past and it promises to get worse and what makes it worse the finance company are just as bad , truckg can be good but the finance company's and the banks make it awfull hard to get started hopefully this will keep you from getting burned good luck to all of you.

hey southern pride--got a couple questions
ok i am looking at an 03 kw t600 it is listed at 29900
i have about 20 k i can use---do you think i could get financing if i put 10000 down on it?
i dont think i even have a credit rating in us--i have a mortgage with boa but i dont have a ss yet---still waiting for that
or could my wife--non driver with not great credit not horrible tho--could she possibley get it financed?
my problem is also i have been off of work for just over a year while getting my us immagration sorted out---and i sure am not going back to school and spending 4000 while workiing for a robot company
i couldnt work for a big swift like company--its always been for me--heres the keys and bills go--and then you just do your job
i am thinking i could do good at ls or something similiar--rather than getting my own auth.
if you have any suggestions or ideas that would help me out--i would love to hear them
    thanx

Another great info post Southern Pride. The only thing I would add is no bank will finance you unless you have a couple years driving experience over the road!

I'm no SP, obviously. But I'll add my recent experience as a data point.

I bought an '06 T600 in Tulsa, OK this past January. Listed price was $35,500 (long story short, it ended up being $36,750).

The only lender who approved me was PACCAR financing. $10K down, $1080.30 for 30 months. Interest is high at 13.9%. $150 early pay-off penalty, which I'll probably take advantage of next spring/summer.

Other lenders turned me down due to one or more of the following reasons.

    - First time O/O, first time truck buyer
    - I don't own a house
    - Not enough credit history (I bought/sold a house in the past, and I've financed a car).
    - I'm from California (WTF!? was my initial reaction, yet, somehow I don't blame them for not wanting to deal with someone from Commie-fornia)

My credit score at the time was 720-ish. I tried a few local banks and credit unions, but they all ran away screaming as soon as I mentioned a semi truck.

Last month, I came across a nice trailer for a good price and I tried the bank/credit union route again. Same reactions, so I paid cash for the trailer.

i am still kind of leary about getting a truck--been crunching a few numbers and looks like i need 275 a day to cover expenses--that is with fuel in but no wages---although i really would like to make some money
now i am just going off of the landstar info packat--but that is some low paying loads there
does the 275 breakeven sound about right?
and another question is--how the hell do people make any money hauling $1.00 frieght?

hey at least your trying canuk! dollar frieght aint gona get it,you ned to get your own auth! and you stand a chance, if you push it and pay the truck off early to cut your overhead,,,remember one thing and keep this in the back of your head! you can go with a little older truck in good condition, there out there i look at the truck paper all the time, you need to cover all the pages, alot of people get bord and dont go thru all the pages also look on creigs list and ebay i seen a 98 kw t600 a few weeks ago 475 cat 13speed,$9000 from a repo company the truck looked in good shape, and that perticlar repo had a fresh inframe with papers,,,,,,also as i left the doctors this week, theres a couple of small places that sell used trucks, there was a beautifull w900, so i pulled in just to torture myself, i walked around the truck ,very clean interior in great shape, about this time, the owner came out an we started talking, he grabed the keys, opened her up truck has over a million mile on her! thats ok truck has 18 sp ,500 cummings, i said ####, alot of miles,he said yes,i crunken the truck up, soumd good and solid,no smoke out of the stack, owner tells me the inframe was done a 850,000,so the motor was just getting broke in,,,,truck was $30,000, i asked about fianansing, he said $10 grand down, 24 mths loan, but the interst would be 15%-19$ depnding on creadit, but guarentee he could get it financed!!!! i'll bet he would, ,,,,my point is,low cost is the way to go,if you want you can always upgrade later
