Dual was one of my favorite movies. I think the truck is a Peterbilt (year?) but I have no idea what kind of tanker it is hauling. They both look soooooooo mean!!!
Thanks
Will someone ID the truck and tanker in the movie "Dual" ?

I forgot all about that movie. I saw that movie at the theater when I was a kid and loved watching the truck climb up the hills. It was pretty tough looking, although the whole plot was pretty ridiculous, even to a 10 year old when I saw it. Still a worthy watch therefore I'm gonna have to download that movie.

I know the truck is currently owned by a trucking company in Louisiana. I was trying to find work after Katrina and ran acrossed the company. I'm glad I didn't. Everything worked out better here in Ohio for me. Cool movie and a tough looking truck.

The movie was filmed in Soledad Canyon in SoCal. Between Hwy 14 and Acton Ca. Parts of it were filmed in Little Tunjunga Canyon between Lake View Terrace and Canyon Country.
Should have been listed as a comedy though. Hitting blistering speed of 55 and 65 at times...
Dennis Weaver played the part well.woodtoyz Thanks this. -

@Dutch-
That was a great article. My goal is to recreate the truck and trailer in my wood shop someday.
Some silly trivia: In the movie, David Mann approaches a "police car" on the side of the road during a chase. The car turned out to be a pest control car, but check out the name on the car "Grebleips"

Here's some information to help you ...

That was a scary movie. Thanks for your question.
I also remember Dennis Weaver as being an "exchange student cop" from Taos, NM in NYC ... If you notice his physical appearance in the movie, Duel and the TV show, McCloud are one in the same. You think that someone in the wardrobe department, etc. would have made some changes.

I grew up in Tujunga Ca. and watching that movie is kinda like taking a home town tour for me. Played baseball in Lake View Terrace too.
What is bad is growing up with a trucking father ruining it all with. "He can't do that"! and "There is no way that truck is loaded". Dad would never let them get away with anything fun. So I watched "On Any Sunday" in rebellion. -
Somewhere on this website, just recently, there are some pics of the truck and trailer with ID of the trailer, which is parked in some farmers field somewhere. There must have been 2 trucks, because the original (I assume) was sent over the cliff. Yeah, I know, trick photography maybe. And I seem to remember it was a TV movie, not a theater release, but I could be wrong.
