I just moved to palm desert, ca from PA. I was wondering what the best truck driving companies are here? I need a job where Im not over the road and where the truck is provided by the company and to make almost the same amount of money as I do now (60,000 take home). Im working at sygma in lancaster, CA now and I need to be close to my job but i hate lancaster, ca. was wondering if anyone knew of any other good trucking companies that fit what i need??

I live 14 miles north of Lancaster, If your really making 60K per year take home you better cowboy up and stay.
I will stop just short of telling you I don't believe this, not take home. If your willing to move to the Bakersfield Area there are several over there where you can make that nad more, all revolving around the Oil industry, Such as T&T crane & transportation in Oildale, Maybe Clean Harbor also in Bakersfield. There are mor but they all require Bakersfield area.roaddawg92 Thanks this. -
If you live in Palm Desert, you work in Lancaster, kind of a long commute.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Yeah, Palm Desert to Lancaster, wow......If he hates Lancaster, He'll hate Bakersfield more. There are sand and gravel operations around Palm Springs, (Superior comes to mind, with a pit off I-10 near the Flying Hook) and Robertsons in Banning. But he won't do no $60 grand a year.
-
If you don't want to do sand/gravel or harvest work (won't make 60k in either one). You are living in the wrong area. Palm Desert is mostly tourist and agriculture.
Up where I am the recession resembles a depression more than anything and most trucking is construction related (aggregate work) if you could find a bulk job don't expect it to be full time right now.
You need to look toward the Los Angeles area for something.
The California trucking industry is highly diversified, so it would help if you narrowed down your search to a few specific types of freight.
BTW the other poster is right, if you don't like Lancaster, you won't like Bakersfield much either but, there may be more work there.

well the thing is, i moved from pa to palm desert because i have a friend here and was willing to drive for a couple months up to lancaster until i found something better or could move up there. i was just wondering if there was some other companies out there that paid as well because when i went to lancaster and seen the area, i knew i didnt want to live there. and ive talked to people about all the surrounding communities victorville, hesperia, san benadino, etc.. and there seems like there isnt anything that is decent here. I have four wheelers that i ride and havent heard about any town that is friendly to them. i moved here for decent weather and for my 4wheelers because ive heard that cali is the place to go for that...well that has turned out to not be true so far.. and yes i do make 60000. but any suggestions on a town or place to go that is not gang infested or have winds that will blow me over?!
-
again, its what ive heard...ive seen the living in lancaster and i know what thats about but i havent had the time to spend in other surrounding towns. im not opposed to small town living either. i just dont want to spend 1200 for a 2br apt in a gang infested area..

We live in the same part of the cat box. There isn't squat up here.
Back to the OP.
Core-Mark in Corona is hiring. It's an off-load and the pay is very good, no, I said it's very good. Need to spend at least one to two nights away.
I don't qualify on account that I am new. But, if you are interested and serious I can give you a name. Maybe that will help .... maybe not.
If you like the desert head towards Victimville and try for Wal Mart. No shame in that. However by the time I get two years driving in my application may have made it to the top of their pile.Jimbo60 Thanks this. -
California facts; deserts = wind. Cities = crime and gangs. Resort areas = unemployment.
Just from what I know most local guys that are doing well are making aroun $45k-$50k per year. Other than that I don't know if you can make $60k here in the current economy. We have one of the highest unemployment rates in the country right now.
As far as the four wheeler thing goes, right now you are pretty much limited to "authorized" areas no matter where you are. There was a time when you could ride just about anywhere but.... that's been legislated out of existence. Even Glamis and Dumont may be severely limitited in the near future because of holiday crime levels.
ummm....
Welcome to Cali.
