Buy your own driver. Companies rarely supply CB's

Cheap CB's are often on sale at TS. Mine was $25, and worked great. Swift won't give you one, but they will install it.

If you get one, get a gear keeper from the TS as well. It's a small reel that will pull the cb mic back up when you let go. One of the best "toys" I ever bought for a semi.

Well you could wait however many hours it would take to get a shop to put it in or you could have the whole job done right out in the parking lot of the store you bought it from in about 5 minutes. The trucks being prewired into the cab has you only hooking up two wires and antennae cable and you're set.

Oh, believe me, I agree. However, I have met some drivers who don't know how (I did it for them).

Companies general do not supply CBs but should. Many shippers and consignees contact you on them during staging. Cobra trash and low end radios are available at truck stops. The cheapest way to buy any trucking equipment at Swift is to buy it at a terminal from someone who was just terminated (they need bus fare home). Plug in installation for cheap CB is fine for staging needs.
To properly install a real CB you need:
    1. mil-grade coaxle cable.
    2. Quality antenna (copper air coil is my choice)
    3. Braided ground straps. (Door to Cab frame)
    4. Top gauge power plug.
    5. Have it meg'd and trimmed by a CB shop.

Shhhh. I dont have any panties on.

Believe me, I was a repair tech for 3 years. You'd be amazed what people will call a service tech for.

I once billed a company $550 to light a pilot light. Sunday, double time, 3 hrs drive round trip. Oh, and the instructions on how to light it were printed on the door. I even tried to tell them how on the phone and qouted the price tag for the service call.... Some folks just don't want to "do it themselves". :biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513:
