It seems like I saw a national statistic not long ago citing that truck safety has improved across all states in the last few years, for whatever reason. Most likely not because of Oregon DOT.

People with questionable trucks avoiding Oregon, Oregon truckers with sorry rigs parking their jalopies. I have no problem with this. Makes the road safer for me too.

I don't run there for the most part in order to avoid Oregons confiscatory ton mile taxes and DOT cops that just want to harass and collect money in the name of safety.
My equipment is always in pefect condition and I am a very safe driver but I try to stay out of that state if at all possible....I don't mind legitemate law enforcement but to jepordize a mans business and driving record in order to legally steal money from him is inexcusable.

It ain't about safety in Oregon, It's about MONEY!

With the decline in the economy and many trucks no longer on the road there are fewer miles being run. They have a vested interest in coming up with these numbers to justify their continued employment.
