the Webasto is separate, even on the diesel APUs. The battery APUs charge while you are driving and will run an electric AC unit for 10 hours on a full charge. The problem with these units is when you have to sit for more than 10 hours you still have to idle the engine to charge the batteries back up, hence making you susceptible to fines in anti-idle areas.

This unit is for ac and heat only, inverters are against ''tmc law'' for now, maybe in the future they will allow them..

And yes the heating system is similar to webasto heater

I heard they don't allow inverters because they had some truck fires from improperly installed ones.

So it is the PACCAR batter system or is it an aftermarket one? I know of at least two companies that makes an aftermarket battery system.

The ones they have now they got a grant to buy 100 of them and they are the climacab systems and the ones on new trucks will be paccar systems.

And yes they say they have had some fires due to properly installed inverters.

When I worked for TMC, 1 yr ago, I always had an inverter, as most of the drivers do, you just make sure its put away before you go in or service. I never had any problems, most of my stuff ran off 12 volt anyhow, needed the inverter for laptop and tv. The trainer I had ran an inverter, you dont need anything big, just get a small plug in type (400W~), hide it when you go to terminal you will be fine.

    SCNewbie Thanks this.

So you would just run a 400W inverter that is a 12 plug in not one that had to be hard wired?

    dropdeck Thanks this.
