Need real address to claim per diem on your taxes. I think it was mentioned, but CDL will not be mailed to PO Box or a rented box like the UPS Store type places.

Each state is different. In NC your driver's license can be mailed to a PO BOX.
This is from the FAQ on the NC DMV web site:

yes rowdy i'm single no kids and i have family i can stay with and chompi i'm gonna give myself a few months to be out there and make sure i'm getting the miles and that i like being on the road

You can use a P.O. Box in Texas as well. I also used it for my haz mat background check for both the lic and TWIC card.

Wow - It is nice to know that there are some places so remote that the USPS does not serve the area . . . I thought they went everywhere. Sounds like a good place to get away from everything, including junk mail.
-
yea, I'm doing the same stay with family on hometime or a cheap motel. Why pay hundreds of dollars for a place you only use for 3 or 4 days a month.
lupe Thanks this. -
Might want to get some more information on this from a commercial point.
For instance, in Illinois, a regular license can be renewed electronically on the phone. A CDL must be renewed in person.
A regular license can have a PO Box, but in Illinois, a CDL may not be issued with it. -

The 1st year of trucking is pretty tough! A few months really wont tell you If its for you or not. You really should give it atleast 1 solid year. With only a few months OTR you willl have trouble finding a local job, But with 1 yr or more your chances increase. In your first few months money will be really tight..need to buy the tools of the trade..map, CB..ect. plus as a rookie you will not be paid alot. Get thru your first few months and then shop around with other companies..you could go from 26/28 cents a mile with the company you sign on with to a company who will pay you 34cpm. but make sure you have a full 3 months. This is from a old driver who has been off the road for almost 3 years so check your facts before you make your move.

Truckers Home Base was created for truckers who live out of their truck full time, or almost.
