Did they heal his stupid while he was in the hospital. If it wasn't his GPS that distracted him it would have been the dog at the side of the road, or a passenger talking to him. Don't blame the GPS. This one is 110% driver error. He should be charged with criminal negligence causing death and Have is driving privileges revoked for no less than 5 years. Make him ride the bus. Irony intended.
sly1 Thanks this. -
Yeah, you definitely can't blame the GPS.
FTA: ""There's eight or 10 signs leading up the bridge ' barring truck traffic and warning of the low bridge, including a couple with flashing yellow lights," Walsh said, adding that the bridge has reflective 2-foot-high panels along its length on both sides for greater visibility."
The real question is why was he off the prescribed route in the first place? -
how didn't he see any of the signs leading to the bridge. wasn't he looking at the road or a noobie driver
-
I see nothing wrong with using GPS. Where drivers go wrong is when they blindly rely on the route given by the device and toss common sense out the window.
GPS is a driving aid; it's not designed to drive the truck/bus for you. As a result, the driver still has to look out his windshield and pay attention to where he's going.statikuz Thanks this. -
I know exactly where that happen there is NO excuse for hitting that bridge..
-
Sigh. How in the world did we manage for so many decades without them..

Any commercial driver with New York or New Jersey experience knows you don't drive on any highway with the word PARKWAY on the end of it's name.

Yep, the northeast golden rule..........

// But the bridge was over his head where he was sitting...so the "obstacle" was obviously high enough to clear the roof above his head! //
What a moron!
