dropped my mag light off of the tail of a dash 8---about 30 ft--broke the bulb--dented the light--but it still works great today

I used maglight for a long time but I started using stream light after seeing one at basspro. I have a streamlight packmate that has high and low settings for white and green light,on the the high side it puts out 160 lumens of white light +it's a 6in palm sized light. I also use a stylus pro that is basically a pen light but it's very bright and easy to carry.
crb, TROOPER to TRUCKER and gdyupgal Thank this. -
I carry a Surefire led tactical light, (rarely use it and it's expensive) 1million candlepower spot light, (have never used it) and a cheap led light that straps to my head from Wallyworld. I use this one all the time. If you are driving out west and might have to chain up in the dark the headlight is worth it's weight in gold.
texasbbqbest and tut Thank this. -
Yeah..I do have a head lamp that I wear on my hard hat when I worked underground(construction)

I keep a Mag Light in the truck. But, I use a much smaller LED light that I can drop in my pocket. The Mag Light is a 5 cell but it's too much when I'm doing the walk-around. I never thought to use it as a tire thumper .... what would I do with that hammer I carry ?
5 D-cell Mag Light
Hand sized LED flashlight
Small Lantern style lamp for inside the sleeper - battery operated.
Headlamp (LED light you can wear on your head) for when you have something stuck to your brake drum and it's dark, and its raining and you mess with it for a while BEFORE you realize it's whats left of an animal ..... niiiiice -
Last couple of lights I've bought (my mag light broke) have been made by Dorcy, ordered online and are relatively inexpensive. Takes 3 AAA batteries (kind of odd), is LED, does not adjust, fits in the pocket, and can light something up good about five truck lengths away

My preferance is the mini-Maglite. 2 AA batteries, and sits on my hip in a sheath. I like the fact you can use them as a candle light as well. It's also small enough to hold in you teeth if you need both hands for a small job.

I have a 4-cell maglight that has been to hell and back and still keeps on ticking, it's almost 10 yrs old. Of course I have a 7C-cell Maglight that I carry in my pickup, it's been to hell and back 4 times, it's been repaired by maglight under warranty once. It has literally saved my life twice when used as a defensive weapon.

Get the new MagLite with the LED ;amp. It is very bright. Caught mine on sale last winter at Lowe's for $15. Should have bought 2 if I knew it was that good. Normally $30 and more.

Walmart sells an adapter to change the minimag to an led light. It cost about $5.00 and takes 5 minutes to change over. small enough to fit in your pocket if you don't like the case on your belt and bright enough to see to the front of your trailer to make surer it's empty.
gdyupgal Thanks this.
