    Hi Chris Welcome back!!!!
you see among everyone else Wedge and I are doing our darnest to keep this thread alive.....it's tough but someone has to do it!! :biggrin_2559:
I have to agree with your last line about keeping this positive and SECOND THAT as you know from ORG orginal thread we told the naysayers that we would prefer keep it positive. yeah yeah we know you guys are newbies but enough pissing and moaning goes on on TTR that it is refreshing to read some positives!! We all get that those who have been doing this job awhile may be jaded from the changes in the industry or a bad company or whatever but we remind you all -you were all NEW at one point and had to start somewhere and I bet that when you were new you were just as excited as these guys, like Chris is, and just as proud of how far he come now. Also if you read the posts you see most newbies say the same thing once they are OTR which is basically , wow Thanks to all those that have gone before me.
And yes -not all newbies should be drivers- some really are steering wheel holders and they will be, truth be told, weeded out quickly. Trust me I know from personal experience.
Chris keep up the posts when you can and we will keep playing in your thread!!!!!!

    Where the truck is

The internet connection at this Piloy is sketchy at best but I'll try to get this in before it kicks me off again. Truth be told, this will be the first and last time I buy a connection here. I'll save my pennies for a new phone and card for the laptop.

So the grass drop in Avondale (where I left off with my last post) went well. This was a residential neighbor hood but a guy has a business there so the driveway was both narrow and gated with a 9 foot wide opening....LOL Fortunately, the road was a "little" wider than most so that helped me swing wide enough to pull in.

It was a new challenge to get that little truck of mine in there but I did and yep, he still has his gate...LOL Once inside it opened up a bit with just enough room to get it backed in where he needed it. The grass was all on pallets and they used a backhoe to drag them to the back abd then a forklift to offload them. Pretty cool to waych actually.

I was then sent about 18 miles down the road to IFCO for a full load of pallets. Not too heavy at 28,000 so the ride to Rialto CA was rather nice without much shifting needed. his was a short tri at roughly 340 miles to a Target warehouse. The original dispatch had me dilivering at mid night the FOLLOWING day! LOL,,,I said midnight tomorrow for a 6 hour run?? No way, So I called the broker and he had it moved to at least 6:00am. Still a long wait but 12 hours less was a score to me! [IMG]

SO I drove to a Pilot about an hour from the drop and hung out there. Afger unloading I was rold to bring the empty to the SFS Terminal which I did. The I went over to the shop, met and hung out with some other drivers and got a second key cut for my rig.

I was just PRAYING I'd get a load our for the weekend. One, two, four, FIVE hours go by and nothing on the old QC. Then FINALLY I get the reassuring BEEP! Now the funny part is, a driver at SFS was SO happy to see me come in with an empty trailer and drop it 2as they had NONE there. He hooked it up instantly after I dropped it...LOL

So what's my mission? take an EMPTY trailer to LA and drop it for5 a loaded one. GREAT I said. I just got rid of my empty...LOL But I asked the guys at the shop if one of the ones they were working on was ready and YEP, they had ONE....LOL

So I grabbed it and off I went. This place in LA was crazy tight and busy and quite an adventure getting around inside. The delivery address is a little screwy as WS dispatch gave me one address, Ellenwood GA (and then were gone for the weekend) but the dispatch at the shipper (and paperwprk in their evelope tells me it's going to their terminal in Conley GA...LOL

Well.I made a bunch of calls that night (Friday) but got no answers. Since I was bunking at the shipper. I decided not to hook it up and just sleep. In the morning, (about 3:00am when my 10 was done) I got up and thought, well, I KNOW it's going to GA regardless so what the heck, I'll take it and we can work out the details in route...LOL

So tonight I'm in Lordsburg NM (just over the border) and set to head out about 4:00am EST for the second leg. Still loving it! Having a blast and learning new things eveyday! :biggrin_25525:

You must be the one that past me on the 10 this morning just west of Desert Center, CA. I was on the south side in my white Kenworth at the Ford Dry Lake Road exit.

    Jerry..

Its going good...Jose is my driving instructor...and its not that bad...he seems alot more in his element....we joke around alot...but are serious when we need to be...

I drove back to the yard from Buckeye on Friday night....we did some in town stuff on the way there...i now can do a straight line 100' back up like a champ!! Couldn't find 7th gear to save my a&@! But as the night went on...went real good...we are driving truck #808....

Havent started the offset or parallel yet....those two scare the crap out of me...but Jose gave me a "preliminary" pre trip test on Friday...I would have passed if it was real....only missed 4 or 5 things....

    Later....

Just a question for all the W&S drivers. Do any of the terminals have some type of workout facility, or are there any places on the road to get a work out once in awhile?

I don't think BMT was being negative or snickering at ya Chris, but I can see how some might think that.

However like you said, do it your way and keep on truckin'!
