I'm looking to get into my KW soon, if the shop ever finishes the couple little things that need to be done....the head of the shop was off Friday and nobody else knew anything about it..
I was a little sad to be moved from my sleeper, since if I got to the swap early, I took a nap, but I drove this truck to him and it is a far cry from a Volvo or Freightshaker. It runs real nice, and I pulled 44k uphill with it, and passed every single truck! The 18 speed is awesome and I can't wait to get into mine. I'm not sure if I like the moose guard, but oh well, it's there...

It does seem overkill to me as well, but I'd rather drive that than the beat up POS's the the local drivers have. I think we need to buy some new power units, both OTR and local. I think that we are the most visible part of our company and when we pull up to shippers and receivers in beat up, oxidized trucks, it looks bad for the company, IMHO.

Not complaining as I love working here...just sayin.

I 100% agree some of these trucks are looking pretty bad buy some new ones or spend some cash and repaint them.

Never knew they bought out Molitor, but then I've been gone for over 5 years now. You guys enjoy your KW's.

Trust me, you aren't missing out on anything in those FL daycabs. They were clunkers then, cant imagine how they're holding up now!

Clunkers hell I dont know how they pass through the scales and not get pulled in every time. I drove one 2 months ago, they should have burned it 4 years before. The daycabs are just beat down.

Well we just finished our 1st FULL week for pay on our run, no holiday to interrupt or starting in middle of week. I look forward to seeing my check next week to plan a budget off of. Warp and I are doing well.

So, I finally got into my KW last nite. Rides and handles good. I still need to fixed up inside, XM put in and such...did my first back in it, and it was a blindside at a Love's. Cool thing, is it has a rear window and I can see the back of the trailer as I back. The run is going fine except for the Pepsi run yesterday and having to wait 6 HOURS to get loaded..

Lots of good information here, thanks everyone for posting. I am a total newb that is looking to go to school in the near future and one of the companies on my short list is W&S. The only thing that is kind of a concern to me is that other than the 10 day orientation, you are on your own right? No one month OTR with a trainer or anything like that? I would like to hear from any W&S drivers that were total newbs and if they felt they were prepared enough to work solo so soon. It sounds like the W&S staff is very helpful, even while on the road. I just want to find out as much as I can before I jump in with both feet.

    Thanks agian in advance guys,
    Chuck

Well I took the first move today and talked to Sandy in recruiting so I could get a list of local SoCal schools that they accept. She was really nice and helpful, sent me an email right away with all the info I needed. Next week I'll have a chance to visit two of the schools and check out them out before I make a final decision on that. Once again to all of the W&S guys and gals, thanks for all of your posts with all of the good info. I hope to soon join all of you on the road

pick a good school with lots of hours, they have reimbursement up to $4800 here so keep that in mind and dont let cost scare you away from a good school.
