This might be true. Some times. As I am riding along at 65mph and some guy's blow by at 75 most of the time I will catch them at the next traffic jam or road construction. Trying to go fast is a lot more work. Getting all aggravated when you get jammed in the slow lane behind some schmuck going 55mph till you can get a opening and get over, or force your way over. Not a good idea because if you cause a wreck doing it, it will be against you.
In most cases I will get there with in 30 mins of the hot rods and had a far more enjoyable trip, and did not work my equipment anywhere near as hard.

Yeah, I find it is just too stressful to always be trying to get ahead, especially if you are in a lot of traffic. I find it much more relaxing to just slow down, and I always end up catching up to the guys who are always in such a big hurry to get around me anyway.

Do they stop more frequently because of having to fill up gas more frequently?

Running my 62 MPH I now make $34.10 per hour.. At .40 at 80 MPH you would only make $32 an hour.. .40 is very high for any company that would run that fast so I guess it would be much less..

Why do all of you drivers running 15 over pass me 3 times till we hit the US Highway? As soon as we hit the US road I smoke you faster than my Parliament.. And why is it 90% of you clowns run 20 MPH through the scale that clearly states 129 times to maintain 40 MPH?? I wish my truck still did 65 but I'm far from impressed with the drivers that have "fast trucks".

As I've stated before, these are the reasons I kind of enjoy holding you clowns up at times - when you poke your mis-alligned headlight in my mirror after I moved over for a bear on the shoulder, I'll stay out there much longer than I would have so long as I'm not holding up cars.

I will not hold up cars but I now really enjoy holding up trucks after all the situations trucks have stuck me into over the last 7 years at Con-way. The other night I had a few blow by me on the Pa Pike right before the Somerset tunnel - they then ran 45 through the tube with their Iowa plates in their fast .20 per mile large cars.. Perhaps not the best idea, but I made it a point to hold back till the hardest curve - smoked them down the hill with FedEx Freight watching them bounce off the white line at like 50 MPH..

No LTL driver with a set is impressed with your fast truck - you're in our way 90% of the time once you're not on a straight flat stretch of interstate..

People concerned with top speed of their truck are the same perverts stroking themselves to movies such as Smokey and the Bandit, Black Dog, and Convoy.

There was never a reason to run "triple digits", never other than to be a super trucker.

My thoughts you get caught running that fast, you prison sentence is the speed you are running.

All the left lane loonies instantly start berating anyone who dare make them end their quest for the big belt buckle they seem to all be seeking regardless of posted speed limits road conditions etc. etc.

    jakebrake12 Thanks this.

Back when the speed limit was 55 in the 80's I had a 72mph truck, and an 84mph truck.

I was constantly wound up fearing the bears etc. Got my first speeding ticket in my life in a 55 zone. That was a 4 point ticket when 12 would get your license suspended. 3 was a regular ticket for that speed. I was caught on a 2 lane road so I got the bonus point! :biggrin_25523:

My wagon goes 62 on the flat ground. I go roll over 600 miles a day easily. I watch the same guys pass me all day long. I don't worry about the cops, and they don't pay attention to me. I am not all stressed out.

    65 would be nice.

    All of us?

I'll pass you once and you'll never see me again...I keep my left door shut!

So....Who are YOU trying to impress?

I run a lot of two lanes and I have for many years...Never once been passed by a LTL line truck unless he was drivin' like a maniac.

    Never do that either...Clowns?
I'd rather see some of these "clowns" run a little slow through the scales that go fast and make a mistake.

I'm certainly not trying to impress you...I'm just running the speed limit!
If it happens to be 75, That's what I'll be doing but if it's 55 or 65, That's what I'll be doing.

So being an ####### is acceptable as long as it YOU being the ####### and not somebody else?

    Your arrogance is showing...

I'm not a LTL freight line driver but I have been stuck in a lot of situations by a lot of different kinds of drivers as well...Including LTL freight company "line" drivers both union and non union.

As a proffessional driver I accept that not all drivers are going to do things just the way I would like them to and I drive accordingly.
I do not do stupid things to aggravate the situation or just to be malicious because that, my young friend is the mark of a petty, immature driver.

Do I gripe about the things that other drivers do?

    ###### right I do!

Do I come here and say things about the ignorant driving habits of the steering wheel holders and other ignorant fools that are polluting the industry these days?

    You bet I do!

But to intentionally cause a problem in traffic strikes me as petty and foolish...It also puts you on the same level as the ones you so eloquently call "clowns" because the actions that you take are no better that the ones that they perpetrate. I would say that most of them probably do it by accident or out of ignorance...While you on the other hand are doing it intentionally!

So I ask you...Which is worse?

No one is trying to impress you...YOU are in my way more often than I am in yours.

    I guarantee that...

But I will not "mess with you" because of it...I will simply pass you when it is prudent to do so and continue on my way without any comment.

I hear you BlackW900. It's been my experience with "drivers" like jakebrake12 they can't go the speedlimit but man they can really blaze through construction zones and backroads really fast. They wouldn't let off the go pedal to keep from running over their own grandmother getting stuck out in the left lane tying up traffic. I drove a governed truck for many years I didnt care who passed me or whatnot. I didnt get myself hung out in the left lane trying to pass someone that I was half mph faster than. It wasnt anything for me to back out of it and let them get down the road. I didnt race through stoplights and drive 25mph in truck stop parking lots just because my truck was slow on the big road. But your typical fedex freight, conway doubles drivers arent like that. They're the most unproffessional lot of drivers I've ever seen for the most part. Not all companies pulling doubles are like that teamsters UPS drivers are some of the best IMO. But anyways I dont let it bother me I just keep a close eye on sorry excuses like those and roll on by when the opportunity arises.

Shoot if these 62 mph trucks are so wonderful let's get em to turn em down to oh say 45. Just look at how much fuel you would save and how safe you would be.We used to be considered adults who could choose the speed we drove. I had a freight shaker that had a c12 cat with the road governor off. It would run about 109. I drove the truck 3 or 4 years and never got a ticket. Just because it would do a 110 didn't mean I had to run it that fast.

Haha.. I do my best to avoid getting hung out since our trucks are stupid slow. I don't do three county passes and I always let out of it for those that decide to try it with me - I really do. I would argue most of my co-workers are some of the best drivers on the road - last I knew about a year ago, we had 1200 million milers and 200 2 million milers at a company with about 4,000 line-haul drivers - not too bad if you ask me since you loose your miles for something a stupid as getting stuck on a hill in snow.

I just try to keep a close eye in my right mirror when a truck running 75 is bouncing from lane to lane then passes me. And it almost never fails - that same truck runs 20 through the 40 MPH scales and can't hold the speed limit once we hit the US highway.

When I only ran in Pa I never had an issue with the fast trucks since most were based in the area and knew what they were doing. I got to know a lot of the flatbed drivers that ran the same roads I did at night. Running up and down 95 just makes me shake my head anymore..

One thing I agree with you 100% on is UPS Parcel drivers - they hook lead and kite based on cube not weight so they really have to use extra caution on curves and bad roads. I hook em backwards at times for certain reasons but I know - they don't know since it's only based on the cube. That's why they're generally the first ones getting jammed up on a hilly snow covered road or looking squirly on an interstate with tire grooves..

I can fully understand if you don't like me for certain things I do, but it's irresponsible to paint Con-way and FedEx drivers with one brush since you don't like me. I make no apologies but can gaurantee you that if we're on snotty roads and you really know what you're doing, I'm the last driver you'll be worried about while you're on them.
