After a early wake up from a family member I decided to make the best out of the rest of my day. I ended up walking 1.5 miles to the beach. Wasn't bad, but definitely not anything too special. Surely doesn't have the quality of my favorite vacation spot, Cancun that is.

Anyways, in Dandridge, TN for my 10 hour. Headed to Clinton, IL....Ought to get there by tomorrow morning, then will sit until Monday morning. Nice little break in there at least.

Here I sit, about 25 miles from my consignee....get unloaded at 10:30 Monday morning.

Actually works out perfectly for my 70 hours.

Which a side thought. Since I had those late night unloads at the Sam's Clubs I've been running nights. Usually starting my day around 4pm then driving through the night. It has its positives, such as no traffic, but gees can it get boring. Coming across I-74 from Indianapolis to here was amazingly dead, I think I maybe was seeing 20 other vehicles every hour. Plus, there is definitely a lack of view. Anyways, I'll be back on normal running tomorrow, but the plus of no traffic is definitely making me think about continuing it.

Yes... a new driver wants no traffic and I have worked nights my whole life...(25 years) so it has a place in my future too... Not sure how to perform the tasks yet but will soon learn... 3rd week of school starts now....

I only like running late nights once in a while... I prefer the daylight, simply because I'm more alert..
Another plus to running those night hours tho is having premium parking. If you want to be anywhere in the truck you can... lol

I'm alert, I worked overnights for 3 years before I started this, so night time doesn't bother me, its just when I'm bouncing back and forth when it gets to me. Eventually I'll decide which I wanna do.

As for parking, that all depends on when you shutdown, if its 2-4am, then good luck.....if its 6+am then hell yeah, lots available.

What an interesting day it has been today. Got routed to Effingham, IL to get loaded in the morning. Started out that the routing was way outta wack, so I called and talked to the fuel department to get better routing(empty miles showed 102 miles, but routing was 150+). They gave be some much better routing, that was until I go into Decatur, IL.

Driving through Decatur, everything is going peachy. Then out of nowhere, I'm faced with a 13' 5" overpass....WTF! Luckily, the only place along that whole road where there was a shoulder, so I pulled off. I was dumbfounded, I checked the atlas(AGAIN), and sure enough, no listing for US-51 through Decatur. So I called my FM, he advised that I call the local authorities and get their help.

Called them, and within 5 minutes and officer was there ready to help without problem, he even knew the best way for me to get outta the problem. So, with him and his car blocking traffic, I was able to back up so that I could turn onto the nearest street and head down a street that went over the train tracks instead of under. Worked out well without any issue.

But seriously, that definitely put me on my toes real quick. I'm glad that I caught it too because the officer even said that several trucks have hit it and that its measured from the road and not the curb. WHEW! Missed that one.....barely!

Would have gone partially a different way, however there was a 13' 6" low clearance on that road so the Fuel Department didn't find that suitable.

    What a week so far....

Left out of home on Monday with a relay up north in MN, then picked up some freezers in St Cloud, MN. Brought those to PA then headed into Maryland for my next load and brought that here to St Louis, MO. Getting unloaded now...

Up next, Florida! Haven't been there yet, so ought to be fun. Gonna be just east of Tampa.

Been some serious runnin tho, by the time I get unloaded in Florida, Sunday afternoon, I'll of drivin 3109 miles. I'll still have time after that for driving but I doubt that I'll have another load til Monday. Which, I kinda hope is the case, I'll go exploring....
