Yep I'd like to see some of them blind side into some of the alley docks between 2 brick buildings that we do in Chicago! :biggrin_25513:

well, i'v read this thread an it's funny, seems some are sarcastic and some have made jokes, but it's all the same, i myself prefer the flats or steps, tarping dont bother me due to it go's with the job! straping, chaining, aint nothing but a thing? it comes down to what you enjoy in your job, i done flat steel, coils, heavy equipment, and lumber loads ,,tarping can be a pain in the wind, but i have found if you see another driver haveing a problem and give him a hand the help in normaly returned,,,,,,then again theres also comon sence while tarping in the wind, and its all in what you make of it!!!!! backing up ------i beleive thats drivers ed 101 ,if you cant back it up i dont think you should be driveing it,it gos with the territory,,,and what i like most a bout flatbedding, pull in unstrap ,unchain, untarp, they unload and your gone!!!! very rarly do you wait 10 hours to get loaded or unloaded ,unless you have a appoitment with a crane,,,,just my opinon Oh ,usualy i wear cover all when tarping and chainig, and the first stop after all this is the closest shower! I aint scared of a bar of soap, an as far as parking ,i preferr the back row!!!! it dont give the yardbirds to take the front of my truck off!!!!

Stop putting words in my mouth. I said, "I'd love to see them do it," not that no one else in trucking could. Hardly. The point being that after they had seen firsthand what flatbedders do, the truckstop CB jokers would think twice.

I'm with Bluelinx now Redd, not that it matters I suppose, but a 300lbs flatbedder is going to be in much better shape than your average 300lbs sterring wheel holder. Not really sure how you "out flatbed" someone either, but I can hold my own :biggrin_25514:

it takes a little WORK to run a flatbed right and a lot of pride in your work such as tarping and securing your load and that kind of pride is hard to find

You're absolutely right, because most of the flatbeds I see going down the road show that they have very little pride in the way their load looks when it's tarped. Now some really take time to make sure the tarps aren't flapping all over the place and such and it's not hard to tell which ones are lazy and which ones aren't.

On the other hand, most drivers in general have very little self pride in anything anymore just look at them when they climb out of their rig in soiled clothes, trash all over the floors and dash, look like they haven't had a shower for weeks. Well no need to go into lots of detail you've all seen them too on a daily basis.

Hell we all have a job to do, its all in how you do it that makes you good or not good, But saying that anyone not on a skateboard is nothing but a wheel holder is BS, i have drove both and both have their own sets of good and bad points.
