I am trying to find an "aftermarket stereo harness" to install my new JVC KD-R200 Cdplayer i just bought at BestBuy.
I went to a Freightliner sales & svc shop in Kansas City, MO off I-435 and the parts clerk informed me that they only make adaptors for the cdplayers that they sell "panasonic" (garbage). I instructed to him that I am looking for just the "female end" adapter with the color coded wires, Not an adaptor to match my radio. I think this guy I talked to was a complete moron but in any other cases, my buddy told me that he believes that i need an early model Chrysler wiring harness made by Scosche. I'd have to look into it, but while I'm still looking, maybe someone out there can help me out?
Thanx,
Kevin![]()

Problem Solved! For those who can't seem to figure out how to obtain a harness for their Freightliner tractors.
Goto a Freightliner Parts & Service shop. Make sure that it is an actual "Freightliner" shop, not a 3rd party vendor. What you want to tell them is you are looking for an "Intermediate Stereo Harness" These are used to wire in one of their stock radio upgrades such as a CD player. The new ones that they sell for the 05+ and Cascadias use this new harness which costs $27 bucks depending on state. I bought mine at the Columbus, OH Freightliner off I-70 Ex 91 right off Walcott. The adaptor matches perfectly with the stock harness and even has the abreviations for which each cable crimps to, IE: xxxAL- or xxxAL+ (would be rear speaker) and xxxFL- or xxxFL+ (would be front speaker) and so on. All the matching is abbreviated on the Intermediate harness, it should not be difficult! Ground is GND, Power is xxxB, and ACC/Ignition is xxxA (accessory) and so on...
If anyone "EVER" wants to upgrade their stereo, you have your answer and I had to find mine elsewhere since no one here knew, now you all know for your Learning and Education.
Thanx,
Kevjonargal Thanks this. -
Ordered a Volvo and a Kenworth harness from this site before. They are Metra harnesses.

Also, I didn't wind up using the KW harness, I just used T-taps instead since the factory harness is wired identical anyways (all the colors are exactly the same in it). -
save your money and dont give it to the dealerships just go buy a plug that will work in a vw. if you do not belive me take your radio with you it will match right up. that is what i am using in my 05 columbia

This is what makes this forum so great. I am embarrassed at my 'solution' to this problem; which was a bunch of jumpers with solder-on male connectors to jump the radio connector to the harness using trial-and-error. Now, his problem is solved and I have, by virtue of the collective experience of hundreds of drivers, learned the 'right' way to do it, not only the right way, but a variety of them. I never cease to be amazed at the number of drivers, able, willing, and ready to help another. That's what makes this Brotherhood great (usually).

What year and model vw? I am looking to swap my factory radio in my cascadia me know thank yoh

Same here. I have a Panasonic CD Receiver.....I'm so old I still call them FM/AM radios.... At any rate, I have a 2001 KW 900. It has a factory Panasonic CD receiver. Trying to find out if the factory radio harness is compatible with other brand in dash receivers. I wouldn't mind changing brands but would like to know about the harness interchangeability before I tear this overhead dash apart and for that fact I wonder if the new model Pansonics are also compatible with the wiring harness from the older models.
Has anybody found any compatibility harness plugs that work from one brand to another.
Thanks Gang. -
Take the radio from dash and look at the back of it after disconnecting it from factory harness and the female end that is left in the dash. Go back to a best buy and purchase this harness vw-9000 for a 1980 - 1994 Volkswagen, Audi,Porsche,Mercedes. This should be the harness u need. Be sure to keep the receipt so I can be taken back if it does not fit in the female end left in the dash. If possible drive the truck there to see if the above VW harness fits.

Forgot to tell u the harness should be 14.99 plus tax at best buy.
