1st day of orientation in the books. Everything going well. Should be out with Trainer on 10-1. Only question I have is the instructor is telling me that if I don't take the perdiem pay package that I wont be entitled to the Irs standard meal deduction or "per diem" deduction. He says I'll have to keep receipts and all that. I am 98% sure he's wrong. Anyone have some experience doing taxes? Will I be able to deduct the standard amount for days I'm out? I took the non-perdiem and practical. In my experience when ever a company makes a pay package appear very attractive( ie. paid holidays, extra week vacation, higher sign bonus) and really tries to push you toward it, It benefits them a whole lot more than you. What are your thoughts? looking for serious feedback. Thanks.

I'm with you, I don't think that is correct. Even if you took the per diem payscale I think you can still claim the difference at the end of the year. Receipts would probably be a good idea, as well as keep your log books to show you were away from home on whatever days.
Just curious, I'm slated to start next Monday. Do they have more than 1 instructor there? -
Sully is at the school in Georgia. Last week I talked to Alice and she said there was still only 4 of us slated for the 27th. Sully you should start a thread with you own experience or give Bear & I pm's so we see what is coming for the next week. nudge, nudge, wink, wink lol

Wow, brain fart. Sorry. I could of swore I saw Bill after instructor. I thought the guy in Trenton was Bill. Disregard previous inquiry, I'm a dumass!

Now just don't let it happen agian!! lmao hehehehhe. Running around trying to get everything squared away before Sunday. ugggggg

I'm in trenton. Bill is the instructor. I thought about starting one but baritone did such a fine job that I would really wouldn't have anything to add to it. I'm sure that I will have both similar and different experiences on the road but Baritone has not complained about me adding my 2 cents so I think if someone is searching for info on Millis Baritone's thread on page 1 is a great place to start.
Loken Thanks this. -
Just the one that I saw. I think Woody fills in when Bill is on vacation. Good Luck. Bill takes some getting used too but he is excellent once you get in the truck. -
My bad, I thought that you were in Georgia. To what I understood is that Millis only runs classes at each location once a month. Guess I was wrong on that one. Well, Sully, I guess we will be seeing you next week lol. How is the Hotel by the way (internet, food, clean, etc...)
-
Hotel is clean. Have Wi-fi. They serve breakfast..not too much to get excited about but will not kill u either. There are refrigerators in the room and I went to the local grocery store and stocked it. Brought my own coffee pot though they provide a rinky-dink motel version. Also you can fill a mug in am with Milk or juice provided in lobby and put in your fridge and not have to worry about buying fresh milk etc. Hope this helps.
