your trainer is wrong if you are on straight pay you still get per diem you just need to keep your log book pages to keep track of how many days you are gone. the goverment will give you a certain amount for every day you are gone and you get a percentage of that amount. you dont really need to keep receipts for anything except for supplies for the truck and if you pay to park somewhere on home time get e receipt for that. millis will reimburse you any toll road and scale tickets you pay for out of pocket as long as you have a receipt.ricrey99, Loken, Sully72 and 1 other person Thank this.

Ask your instructor where he/she got his/her accounting degree from? Ask them if they realize the liability they put themselves and the company in by giving out unqualified tax advice.
Call an accountant in your home town (Liberty Tax Service, etc...) and ask those questions. It's worth the minutes burned up to get the correct information. The advice could save you thousands in the long run.Sully72 Thanks this. -
Thanks for confirming. It's much appreciated.

My thoughts exactly. Thanks for the response.

Baritone, Planet Pizza, Got it! Keep the vid coming.
Rye and Bear forgot to mention motel has microwave in room also. Bring some paper plates though because the motel has styrofoam in lobby, which of course won't work so well in microwave. -
Thanks Sully, but I'll be going home every night.
It's about an hour's drive for me. I hope all is going well with your training and orientation.
-
Thanks Sully for info. I'll be staying at motel. 2 1/2 hours is to far to keep going back and forth.

Hey Baritone, I was on my way back from orientation and think I passed you near weedsport at 19:00 hours tonight(Wed). I was heading East were you headed west on I-90?
Talked with my trainer should be headed out with him on Oct. 1. -
Hey Baritone,
I have been tracking your experience with Millis and it sounds awesome. I am seriously considering contacting them. I just have to convince myself to leave my current job('s). I just need to know I can make the same or more in the trucking industry.
Right now I gross $1560 every two weeks before taxes, insurance, 401K...
I also work a part time job where I gross approximately $300-350 every two weeks so that is 1560+325(avg.)= $1885 gross every two weeks. That is roughly $49-50k annually.
Not trying to pry into your personal business but is it possible to make that much or more with Millis? Are you personally making at least that much with them? I have the whole package- wife, kids, mortgage...
I don't want to make a career change and then not be able to make the money to pay my bills. But I know everyone feels that way.
Anyway, I am enjoying tracking your progress with Millis. They sound like a great company to work for. I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos on youtube! They are great. Thanks.
If anyone else has any input about Millis please feel free to answer this post. Especially the part about the pay.
