I send it up to Rand to have them look at the ramp/main roads to see where the issue is.
Do not feel bad.. the WilcoHess is on the off ramp where I live according to the Lat\long.
Thanks,

I am headed back to Skokie next week to assist in training. If you have an issue that needs attention, you can call in on the support line and ask for me or just E-mail me. I will get the E-Mail on my cell.
Otherwise anything posted will be looked at after hours.
BTW - just to give a heads up... when you call in for a issue, you will be asked your name, phone number, E-Mail address, serial number of the TND, and a brief summary of the issue. Please bear with the Customer support person as they have to fill this out on a trouble ticket.
If you are driving, the info will be asked (minus serial number), but depending on the issue you may be send out a procedure to assist you. If you still have an issue, then feel free to either E-Mail or call in. Rand wants you to be safe and safely shut down is much better on everyone to do any type of troubleshooting.
If you have just general info that can be put in a Tell Rand, please do so instead of calling. Their are a limited amount of bodies to answer the phones.
Be professional on the phone. Rand is trying to assist you in your needs.
Thanks,

And I might remind you guys that you crafted a special NDA for me because you wanted my opinion unfettered. Well, here it is. Step back from your work a bit and listen to what people are saying. It's not a personal insult to point out what sucks about the unit. It is a personal insult to say, "What do you know, you're just a consumer." -
The Testers if they have someone at the truck stop that wishes to talk about the TND, they can show them the TND on the production version, but not the TND on the Beta Version.
The WalMart issue was mentioned. I reported it and the engineers found the problem and corrected it. I did not see the need to go 3 pages of a thread over the same item.
I do not write the code. Period. I do know how to code in 5 different languages. But, I do not tell the engineers how to write their code. I have computer engineers for Beta Testers. They most certainly know more than me, but as issues are found, ways to correct the issue are tossed about till a good solution is found.
As with any user if they find an issue the more details I know the better we can try to duplicate it. Mentioning you are in a store parking lot and not finding it on a quick search tells me nothing.
You have mentioned a lot of issues, but I have to keep asking for details. It makes the duplication of an issue much easier.
I do believe I have listened to everyone here and tried my best in one way or another to resolve their issue and do right by them. Can I do this 100%? Nope.. some folks are just set against working with anyone.
As I stated before this is a thread for support. The other thread is for mentioning items you do or do not like about the TND. I am sorry if you feel singled out, but I wish this thread to keep on track for the purpose it was started.
If your TND has issues, then let me know about it, Give me a chance to resolve the issue instead of flambasting the TND with no details.
As stated before no navigation unit is perfect. Drivers have to pass a test and are expected to be professionals, yet how many times do you hear about a "Professional" driver sardining their trailer?
I can either assist you if you are willing or if you do not wish to be helped then I cannot change your feelings. I monitor this thread and go out of my way to help you the professional driver to have a good experience with your navigation tool. But, I cannot make everyone happy.
I hope you have a great weekend.
Thanks,
MarkGears Thanks this. -
Ok, here's my issue with the TND 700. Highway speeds for 77 north and south, 70 east ( i think), RT 22 from WV in ohio car speed is 65 and truck speed is 55 but it tells me my speed limit is 65. The other thing i don't understand, if i go to Packer Ave terminals on the east coast why would it take me down a street with a stoplight every 1/10 of a mile. It was my first time there i got directions from them, but Philadelphia is so #### confusing i just followed the way it routed me. Then when i left i realized the way i was suppose to go. Is there a weather app? Even if i would have to purchase it it would be nice to have one since i run flatbed and most of what i haul can't get wet cause it's import and export material.

Mark,
First I want to say thank you for expediting the repair of my GPS unit when I got a notice of "system files missing". My wife sent it to you and it was a pleasant experience.
Not having much experience with GPS units I had some bad feelings about my TND mostly with the driving past the location just to circle back, along with driving me thru towns instead of taking the intestate. Then the battery did not hold a charge and after talking to tech support I ended up with files missing.
So I bought a Garmin 465t and tried that for a while. While it sort of worked but kept telling me of 12'10 bridges on the PA turnpike trying to make me reroute...
Finding Truck specific locations where not as easy as the TND
Traffic info was nice but having restaurant options and special pop up on the screen was annoying
It had one nice feature a timer of how long you were moving and how long you were not
Easily cleared. Helped with making my paper logs accurate. I returned it after the Fiasco on the PA turnpike and not being able to update the unit on my laptop.
So I tried the Cobra 7700
AAAHHH!!! Very poor performance in California mostly thinks load limits of 40 tons is not allowed on many of the highways there. Speed trap warnings were a pain in the butt
I would prefer to now the speed limit on the road then were the cameras are. Also did not save your location/destinations previously searched. Routing always seemed to be to take Interstates.
I use Google and an old version of Rand McNally trip maker
I like Google for giving you three route options for most trips that include time and distance for each one. Some of these showed that there were only a few minutes different between shortest and fastest routes and you could make the decision which to take
So Now I have a renewed love for my TND
But would like for some added features
- the timer of how long I was driving or sitting
- easily seeing route options like on Google to compare route, time, and miles
- fastest and shortest options there should be a practical route too (mostly highway/interstate to location)
- Preferred routes would be nice to save for some repeated trips
Mark Thanks again for getting me up and running again, and reuniting me with my TND!Mark Kling Thanks this. -
I would need your starting\ending locations to try to duplicate the routing.
Weather app - on the feature list. The New version does list the county you are in so if you are listing to the news about bad weather or storms you will know the county.
Thanks,
Mark -

When are the new map updates coming out?
I remember you saying something about a 3 gig download
my Verizon card would not like that -
Finally! Finally some people with brains in their skulls. When I was trying to point out that this unit was unfinished , half-baked and way too expensive for what it actually can do at this stage of development, I was called a "boy" and was "asked" to leave. Not by Mark but by "fellow drivers".
Mak was just the usual arogant smartypants. But he initiated the process of Rand buying my unit back and I appreciate that.
The whole process took about two months instead of three week they promised. I can't remember last time I had to deal with so disorganized bunch.
Long story short, it took 7 calls. Every and each csr I've spoken to didn't have any idea what's going on, I had to explain to them the whole situation everytime including correct spelling of my name and my request that I need them to make the check to my girlfriend name beacause I'm on the road all the time.
It seemed like they don't have computers there and are just passing messages to each other on post-its.
Guess what name was on the check after I finally got it? Mine. Horribly misspelled. I've had hard time to even cash it.
The worst was a guy named Miles. Kept me on the phone for good 10 minutes asking what I've already told them many times before. After that phonecall, Mark called me, asking me what's going on and what I want.
Apparently, I wasn't clear enough for him when I mentioned that Mark just referred me to his (Miles's) supervisor. I guess he tought Mark is the guy I want to talk to for some reason.
Everytime I asked to speak to a supervisor and everytime (except first and last time) the "super" was busy, out of office or otherwise unavailable.
But I'm happy I got rid of that beatiful piece of junk.
Btw Mark. Consider this: We don't complain to google that they "misplaced" a whole city because
1) Who cares about Sunrise, Fl.?
2) Google maps are FREEEE!
It's hard to complaint about something what I didn't have to pay for. Especially if such "bugs" don't make my life harder or effects it in any way for that matter.
But rest assured I'm gonna complain, #####, moan and whine about bugs in half-baked device I paid over $500 of my hard earned money and which effects me and my job as a safe driver every day.
I was contemplating keeping the device and wait for that famous update. Now I see the update won't include multistops again. THE feature most people are waiting for. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Rand's programmers can't figure out how to do it, hire a few average Apple or Android coders.
They'd solve this problem during a break between two episodes of "Lost".
And get some computers for your csr's and teach them how to use it.
