That was the problem. When you figure out what they are you can remove them.

Found the problem with this ISX, the turbo controller had been replaced prior to my purchasing the truck, there is a sticker over the vent hole which says right on it "REMOVE WHEN INSTALLING" the bright mechanic left the sticker on therefore the turbo did not operate. It took three trips to two different cummins shops and insistance on them that it was not working right to find the problem Removed the sticker and it produces 36-37 lbs of boost just bobtailing compared to 20-24 before loaded. Oh yeah and about $1500.00

cant imagine how pissed you must be----i would be crapping out dynomite if i was you--you have my sympathies sir

If you were told to drive it at 1900 RPM or ever going to that RPM, I would find another mechanic.
Have the CAC tested as was suggested, check the fuel preasure and restriction and checking the Exhaust restriction. Have a valve set done, and you should be good to go. -
Pulled it with a good load yesterday since getting the turbo fixed, pulls much better but still wouldnt come close to my Cat 3406E with the same HP. I think it is as good as it can get. It's been to two Cummins shops, dynod, valves and injectors set fuel pressure is at top end of spec. so I think thats it. One thing for sure though, I will never own another Cummins and sure wish I would have bought another Cat.
Donk Thanks this. -
the best way to have them as driveable as they wil lget is to turn the throttle away from automove to the other setting ( forget the name )..
it aint much, but thats as good as it will get -
Everybody complains about engines. To me they all do the same job and everyone of them has problems.
-
This statement could not be further from the truth. The truck I driver has a 525 Mercedes Benz / Detroit and I like it . Pulls well, quiet, does not use oil, gets reasonable mileage.
The problems with most engines are the mechanics, When they start messing with the computer settings, they muck up the works. Leave them set they way they are ordered from the factory, and they do great. Its when they start trying to control the driver's habits with the computer they muck it up. -
yea they are a great motor have my rotwieller chained to one down at my shop he loves dragging it around the lot.
