Very tragic and sad. I feel they should'nt have let him cop a plea to this. Could they have shut Comtrak down for this? Seems to me it is a lack of over sight on the companies part.

    Dang...

I guess that DOT officer didn't check his logs when inspecting his brakes. I thought that was SOP. And they let the driver just drive out of the coup with an OOS tag on the truck??

com track is almost as guilty as the driver in this---a lot of oh we wernt aware or didnt lnow going on--and as for not being able to put a gps system in the truck--that is complete bs---all it needs is a battery and i am sure he had those

I stopped after 4 pages of reading. I couldn't read anymore because it was just making me madder. Even one was passing the buck and not wanting to do their own job properly. Everyone invovled should have recieved a hefty fine, fired, and even possible jail time.

That would include the lawyers IMHO.

Just because ComTrak did not have a written policy, does not negate Federal Law....which is common knowledge for all companies and drivers.

And what about the officer that placed the truck OOS ?? His responsibility to public safety ended after writing the order ??

There's a lot of blame to go around...for everyone.

The safety officer should be fired.

Even the DOT officer should be fired for letting a OOS get off the lot or at least reporting he jumped..

Very sad indeed. The kids that survived will be haunted the rest of their lives.

Everyone involved should of got the maximum punishment allowed.

Be careful what you wish for ...

There might one day be a "cell block" for drivers simply put out of service in the scale.

They had no reason to take him into "custody" at that time, and if you own your truck - and bobtail out - not much they will do anyway - depending on the area.
