Unlike these heroic flatbed drivers...I sit in my cab. Not on top of it.

Just relating an experience, hand. Part of what forums are for.
As for "doing something special" you are still missing the point. I claim nothing of the sort. It was a reply to the CB hazers at truckstops who never miss a chance to say flatbedders can't back. -
Its to hard

IF by special you mean.. beyond the ordinary, than.. yes he did do something special. Exemplary? Perhaps not. But special? Yes. His point still stands: just because a flatbedder doesn't bump a dock once a week doesn't mean he can't back. Its just that the backing a flatbed driver has to do isn't standardized.

yes it's more work than vans and having to deal with the weather. But if you like working with your hands and getting physical it might be for you. I like it very much.

check back with me when you get some experience.....k ??

vans are so boring!!!! And talk about getting out of shape! Flatbedding will put the muscle back into you, that you lost pulling vans.
-
Is it safe to assume you have never had to hand unload a floor loaded 53ft van trailer in all your time on the road ??outerspacehillbilly Thanks this.

As a float driver you need experience in securing loads and there can be some ugly ones. It's always good to see a top hand going down the road w/ a tarp job that looks like it was spray painted on.
