Nothing in regards to law.
What you are dealing with is company policy. -
At my carrier its considered non-preventable. At orientation, they put a prospective driver in a simulator, get him going down the road, and put "bambi" out there in front of you in a situation where you can't avoid the hit. If "bambi" isn't dead, you don't get the job. But that's my outfit... the next trucking company down the road might decide to crucify your DAC report in that situation.
twowolves and scottied67 Thank this. -
My company they are ruled as preventable and the driver pays for the damage unless the deer runs into the side of the trailer.twowolves and scottied67 Thank this.

There seems like there are too many double standards, whereas Company A may list a preventable incident while Company B lists it as an unpreventable. I don't make the rules, but there should be uniformity when it comes to examples such as the deer thing.scottied67, scatruck and twowolves Thank this.

We haul products that cannot have a scratch on them. If you have a blow out, you most likely return the unit.scottied67 Thanks this.

My company keeps track, but we were told to not stop anymore when hauling live, I haven't been close to another deer since going OTR again. Timing has a lot to do with it. Timimg is bad for live haul.
The rut and having young in the spring make it less predictable, but dusk and dawn are the worst times the rest of the year.scottied67 Thanks this. -
would it also depend on the insurance ?---we had 0 deductable wildlife ins---and yes they wanted you to run over the deer rather than risk something worse--that is a benifit of a classic--sometimes you can bounce a bambi with no damage

You totally lost me, lol! What did that have to do with setting uniform standards that everyone should follow?
