Do company trucks come equipped with a CBs already or do you need to provide your own. I had a chance to buy a 29 LTD for $15 but I haven't started school yet so my wife told me to wait.

    To start with.

Why spend more than you need to begin with?

Not usually. But a 29 for 15?/ GET IT! Yeah mor and more drivers are turning them off BUT when it's needed for when someone comes on with a warning of a wreck just happened or get off now due to wreck an idiot is driving towards you going the wrong way down the road or a bridge collapsed or you have something falling off the truck or you're getting unloaded and they'll call you on the CB as they ain't going to call you long distance on their land line or you aren't on their plan! The CB is a TOOL even though children who call themselves drivers have them and use them as play pretties!

The best thing about it is being able to find out whats happening in the world around you. Not all AM stations will know whats going on when it just happened in front of you! XM takes even longer.

If you can get the radio but make sure it works! You can even take it to a CB shop and have it tuned and checked and if you don't make it as a driver sell it for the same $15 or more! Just use it as the tool it is and it'll last you a long time. MY Uniden 29xl is now 17 years old this past March! Works like a charm!

A story where the CB would have been helpful!

I20 West bound through Birmingham about 2007. The police are in a high speed pursuit of a 4 wheeler and is coming up on me and a Prime driver. The police want the 2 of us to stop on the bridge we've coming up on and stop the 4 wheeler. I'm talking to them and I pull up next to Prime and am trying to get his attention by waving at him with the mike. Well he flips me a bird and pulls over to the shoulder to let the cops go by and I can't get the guy run off the road so they keep going down the road. One cop pulls in front Prime and asks him why he wouldn't turn his CB on and he tells the cop he's on the cell phone! The cop tells me this on the CB and I just crack up! Yeah I guess things out in the world are more important than whats going on around you!

I would think...not knowing personally...that getting a CB with Blue Tooth might pay for itself when your driving through one of those no cell phone states (Calif., Conn., Del., Md., N.J., N.Y., Ore. and Wash. D.C., Utah, S. Carolina, Maine, Idaho) and a LEO takes notice. You'd be using a mic and there ain't no law against that.

Get a Cobra or Uniden CB, anything you can buy from them will be good to you and get you in contact with who you need to talk to, without all the bells, whistles and uneeded power of export radios. Some companies do provide radios, like our company in the sand & gravel industry, where a CB is required in the pits to get loaded, etc.

Go down to lodi you'll hear plenty of talk. And if your going there, go down to the Italian bakery on state and pick up a Italian wedding cake and grab some perogis too! TYIA:biggrin_25522:
