OK I'm finishing up my driving school and have to decide between TMC and Maverick. Everything I know about these companies I have learned from these forums, the respective company websites/recruiters. The only negative thing I have heard on TMC is they are too strict, too much like military, etc. That does not bother me, I am prior military and like things to be in proper order. I have not heard anything negative about Maverick so far. I am looking for opinions from former or current drivers for these companies and what you like and/or dislike about them. Thanks for any info.

I drive for Maverick but have interacted with many of the TMC drivers. Both are good companies. At TMC, you can not put an inverter in your truck. At Maverick you can.
All things being equal, I would go with Maverick for that reason. I love my refrigerator, Microwave, and coffee maker. It makes living in a truck affordable and enjoyable.
Just my two cents worth. I do like their trucks better though! -
Hey Jim,
I enjoyed reading your posts about orientation and when you first hit the road - thanks again for those. I do have a question: On Maverick's website it says "driver comfort is a priority we spec all NEW tractors with auxiliary power units" I don't remember hearing about that on any threads. Does the whole fleet have APU's or is that something new, and they are working them in?

I have never seen an apu on any Maverick truck. The new cascadia's have an ac unit driven by batteries, and some sort of heating unit. They may be referring to that. I will tell you that they do not give you any grief about idling the truck. If you need to run it to be comfortable, they tell you to run if. If you do not...don't.

maverick all the way.
