That truck stop you are talking about is no longer an All American. They have Pilot fuel, so they take there cards now.
Still large and still an independent truck stop, just peelot fuel, so it fills up faster now.
Always check the back of the lot behind the Chapel for parking, not a bad area and easy to get out. Or you can park across the street if they are full.
Just to add, the food at that place is nothing to write home about.
The food at the Barkeysville quick fill is actually good lol.
Oh and if you would like a nice little cheap snack some time and are crossing I-90 in Ohio East of Cleveland.
The Kwik fill at the Geneva exit has soft taco's that are pretty good, and only like a buck thirty each. They make them on burrito shells. They are very basic, just meat, cheese and tomato's. But 2 are a good light meal, and cheap.

i was told that if you are prior military that central does not take money out your check for training

Nice pics chompi. Hope I get to see those places in the not too distant future.
chompi Thanks this. -
I find that HIGHLY unlikely.
Especially with the high percentage of drivers that are prior military.
I would say that close to 50% of drivers on the road have served in the military for at least 4 years.
For some reason many people go into trucking after they finish time in the service. I know I did, and I know that many many that I see on the road did as well.
So if they did not charge you for the school they would loose ALLOT of money. Most of Centrals schools are 3rd party. Even ones on Centrals property are contracted out. -
i didnt try that one... I am westbound today. Headed to Mt Vernon, IL

NOTHING beats the Taco trucks in CA! Taco Hell tried and FAILED! those tacos are the definition of basic.... small corn tortillas, meat, onions, cilantro and hot sauce!

I will agree that they are nothing like the ones in Cali, or even in the Detention Center parking lot. I use to like going to that terminal a few times a year just for the taco's.
The ones in the kwik fill are not much, but they are cheap and do not taste bad at all. Just add some extra sauce.
I am always looking for a cheap filling meal. If I can have lunch or dinner that costs me 2.60 plus a drink. I am pretty happy. -
actually there are a few taco trucks in SLC if you are ever near there ill tell you where they are.

I'm in the Central's training right now on the Veterans Program. Its exactly the same program of training as everyone else. You sign a $3000 contract, 56 days after you go solo the program starts. The $3000 contract deducts $56.75 per week for 52 weeks, then they credit you $56.75 per week for 52 weeks. Its the same as other school contracts except they are reimbursing you the same amount as the payment every week. The deduction is pretax and the credit is taxable income. So it is not free you will pay $7 per week in fed tax on the credit. So the course actually costs $364. You have to have a DD-214 with a Honorable discharge, no General or others.
So 3 weeks of unpaid training, 5-7 weeks with a trainer, 56 days as a solo, and 52 weeks for repayment. So Central has you on the hook for about a year and a half before you are paid up. $364 for a CDL is the best deal you will get these days. good luck and thanks for your service! -
As Tennessee Ernie Ford sang, " I owe my sole to the company store"
Just wondering what if you don"t make it to the end , how much are you on the hook for?
