If you do not go with the female that is fine.
But in general with any company, if I were you I would spend some time talking to the prospective trainer first. Check out their truck etc. Just to be sure you feel comfortable with that person, before you hit the road and figure out on the road that you are not comfortable.
This is especially important with female trainee's with male trainers.

I totaly agree with you on that. I would like to have a breakfast lunch or dinner meeting with my trainer just so we can sit and talk and see how good of a fit we would be. Im counting down the days Woo Hoo!

With any new driver going out with a trainer it is hard.
A new driver is very nervous for the first week or so driving, and for even longer when backing into docks and in truck stops.
Hitting a cone and hitting a 100,000 truck are totally different things.
So any trainer needs to be able to calm the student and help them to be more confidant, all while teaching.
They also must stress that learning is a constant thing. New drivers get into allot more property damage accidents than seasoned drivers.
But the seasoned drivers are the ones getting in the accidents that kill allot of people. This does not happen much with trainee's and newer drivers. Because they are not over confidant. This comes with time.
All that said.
A good trainer can make or break a trainee.
You may have it in you to be the most skilled driver the industry has seen this decade. But without a good trainer you will quit in no time.
The trainer does not even have to be an exceptional driver. They just need to know how to teach and council.
The first steps in this process are evaluation of the student. And the creating of a trusting learning relationship.
If you have that you can be comfortable enough to put your trust in them, listen and learn.
Good luck.Smurfette Thanks this. -
Me and Wife are looking into central. Do female trainers exist?
-
With every company they exist. If your going together you can ask the recruiter if you can train together. I know CR England let a husband and wife team train with the trainer together. It just depends. CRST is only team so you could look into them as well. They are out of Fontana. The only thing is some times there is a waiting list for a female trainer. Just call the recruiter and ask. That is one good thing a out them that can answer some things without lying to you.
Blue Screen Thanks this. -
Central use to have a few trainers that only trained teams. I do not know if that is still the case or not. The ones I knew started out running 8/8/8, with the trainer running one block. Then after the first 2 weeks the trainee's would run all the hours, unless the trainer was needed to fill in a block to deliver a load.
One thing every trainer is required to do is make sure that all drivers are ready and able to run 11 hours in a day consistently if needed.Smurfette and Blue Screen Thank this. -
good luck with the starting at central talk to karen when you get there she is in the co store in salt lake she will be straight up with you and can be very helpful it is a hard fast course there and you have to stay focused if you do that and can put up with the yelling from the instructors you ll be ok

Im excited I went to school to work on cars and took the truck course as well. Im a bit rusty with air brakes but it should come back pretty quickly. We had to do pre trip inspections in class so its just remembering what all I need to check. Im excited and cant wait.
-
Air brakes are very easy, you will have no issue with that.
The systems have not changed much for many years.
The big thing on the test for them will just be remembering the steps for the incab part. But you will get it.Smurfette Thanks this. -
Well in a few months - there just might be one more
