My fiance and I are both in trucking school. We are concerned about being apart for 6-10 weeks while we are in a companies training program...not that we don't trust each other, we just can't stand to be away from each other that long! Does anyone know of any company that will train two people tandem-two trucks following eachother-or with a trainer and both trainees in one truck?
fiance and i want to train together/team driving

Dont know about a company that would, but ive heard of 1 trainer and 2 students. Each student rotated a 2 week off 2 weeks on schedule running teams with the trainer.
-
There are also 3 driver teams that rotate 1 week off and 2 weeks on. Always a team of 2 in the truck 24/7. Dont know how that works out when the truck needs maintenance or repairs.

How about going to school (not a trucking company school) and getting your CDLs then getting with a company ?
Companies love teams. You show up as a kit, with your CDLs, and you are going places .... like every week .... -
Awesome man, you guys are going to make killer money. My wife and I ran team together and did very well! We ran for Central when we first started out and they let us train together. Actually I already had my license but had been out of a truck for longer than 6 months. So they required a little refresher time. The three of us rode in a truck for two weeks then they cut us loose since I had already had experience. There are companies out there that will do it you just have to find them. Your only other option is for one of you get your license and drive for like three months and then you would be able to train your spouse. Try looking into the smaller companies or maybe an owner operator. Good luck you guys are going to have a blast!
migsgirl Thanks this. -
We will both have our CDL, but have noticed that there are few companies if any that will hire someone that doesn't have practical experience. We are hoping that we are very hireable considering we don't really have a home base and are very willing to get in as many miles and hours as possible...

Keep dialing the phone. You can find a company that has a three week Orientation process, that you can participate in together, and then be assigned a truck together upon successful completion.
I don't know who you have called but it doesn't sound like your phone has not connected to a large orange thing. Orientation is difficult, but you finish well and you get your truck. Easy enough.migsgirl Thanks this. -
Thanks that helps
