    Hey Dick?

I hate to keep pointin' things like this out....But.

You say either me or NoTarps told you 2 years ago that you wouldn't last 3 months...Right?

    But, But.....Dick!

You've only been a member here since August 2010...Now I'll admit, I'm not schooled in all that fancy time travel stuff and I might have failed physics and all...

But......Well Dick, Do you see the flaw in all of this yet?

I'm certain that there's a perfectly plausable explanation for the discrepency.

I'm really in a quandry here Dick!

I think we got one of these guys here where you could spend hours explaining it to him, but you'll never be able to understand it for him.

I did just figure out why my boss has a hard time finding good drivers- They're all working for Swift...........or Werner..................or England.

so many right, almost right, and a lot of absolutely not right answers and opinions here...can't resist so here goes:

As far as Swift is concerned, a Company truck is not allowed to be used as "personal conveyance" UNLESS AUTHORIZED BY THE DM OR HIGHER AUTHORITY...it is not the Swift company drivers choice to make. Here is the problem with the Swift policy concerning this issue...IT ISN'T WRITTEN IN ANY HANDBOOK OR POSTED ON ANY EMPLOYEE BULLETIN BOARD...it is passed on by DM, Safety, Fleet Managers, and the shop people. So with this in mind...how can you enforce an UNWRITTEN POLICY? Yet Swift does this all the time, adopts some "policy" to create a case against an employee...not just the drivers either...it happens in every department!

As far as the FMCSA regs go, the "personal conveyance" rule does not SPECIFICALLY categorize a difference between O/O, L/O, or company truck...at this point it comes to a decision by each company or owner of the truck...if the company says it's OK to be "OFF DUTY" Line 1, when bob-tailing IT'S OK...if the company or owner of the truck say not to then IT'S NOT OK! Technically, the rule IMPLIES, if you are being compensated for any kind of work, it requires that work to be logged, on the proper corresponding line of the log. If it entails driving, then Line 3...not driving Line 4.

To the statement about "NOT FOR HIRE" posted on the side of the truck...to be honest I never heard that from Swift before, during my time there. But like I said before...SWIFT, AND EACH TERMINAL MANAGER HAVE THEIR OWN SET OF EVER CHANGING RULES...AND MOST ARE UNWRITTEN AND UNPUBLISHED.

    So Dick!

Is that what you're down to? Personal shots?

You realize of course Dick that the personal shot is the last weapon of choice when you run clean out of real arguments and facts!

    Gee, Golly, Gosh Dick!

I might have to get therapy because I just can't handle the mean things you said about me....:biggrin_2559:

You mean to tell me that I might have an ego? ###### Dick! I never knew that before....
I always thought of myself as a Low self esteem, kind of humble guy....:biggrin_2556:
    But seriously Dick!

I have a healthy ego! I'm ###### good at what I do and I have no problem saying it.
I also have no problem learning something from someone that knows something that I don't Dick!

But you're not that guy Dick!

It's part of the high self esteem/ego thing Dick, You see, I'm comfortable enough in my own skin to learn from others and to admit to having an ego and to laugh at myself as much as I laugh at others.

I don't freak out when I'm wrong about something Dick! (You could learn from that) I've seen a few other threads where you've done the same type of thing that you've done here and have irritated people to the point of them saying things to you that probably got them a slap on the wrist behind the scenes...

    But, You know what Dick?

When someone come across that way with me....I don't usually get flustered or mad, I just start having fun with it like I'm doing now Dick!

Try to learn to relax Dick!
Try to learn to laugh at yourself Dick!
Try to learn to unwind a little bit Dick! ('Cause you seem pretty tense to me)

You've been out here for 2 years Dick!
    That's a very short time!

Take the time to listen to some of us that have been out here for many more years than you baecause even though we might be irreverent and sarcastic at times and even though we might tease you about things at times...Most of the long time O/O's that I know are the most focused, capable men I've ever met and there is a ton of valuable knowledge for you to tap into instead of gettin' all defensive when a guy pokes at you a little bit!
