HELLO! Im new to this website but seems to be very interesting. I have an '07 KENWORTH W-900L with a MXS C-15 ACERT engine rated at 475 hp. Followed by a 13 speed tranny and 3.36 rears on low pro rubber. Im planning a trip to see some PDI reps in Charlotte next weekend about a Stage 1 ecm tune. Is they any good info or advice as to what I can expect as far as hp, torque and fuel mileage? I average about 5.35 or so, but would love to get to 6 mpg. Any thoughts??

I appreciate everyone's input. I've never done an ecm tune and just want to make sure not to hurt anything. I have only started thinking seriously about this kind of thing a couple of weeks ago and have been doing some research. Mr. Haney, I was not the one you talked to on Saturday, however, the guy you talked to was one of my best good friends and I was at his place/office when you guys were on the phone. I never doubted anything you told him/us, I was just exploring other people's results and experiences. I look forward to catching up with you guys in Charlotte.

From what I have gathered from very reputable CAT mechanics where I live, except for a few differences in the head, all the big iron in the block is the same across all the CAT C15 engines whether marine, industrial, etc, so a little tune or bump in the power should not hurt anything at all and help with economy and of course feeling a little extra kick can't hurt either. :)

FlyingTrucker, I thought it may have been your friend that I talked with.

The bottom ends of these motors are very strong..........your motor uses the same rods, rod and main bearings as a C-18 1000 hp marine engine from CAT. You have a different crankshaft with a shorter stroke and a different piston for the smaller bore diameter, but they're made of the same materials as the C-18. The structural strength of your engines bottom end can handle much more hp than the program your thinking of doing. The head gasket, spacer plate, spacer plate gasket and head bolts are the same. This is the one thing I love about these engines everything interchanges between them. The reason CAT did this was to lower production costs..........they used basically the same engine with slight variations in parts depending on the hp level required at the time they sold it. So it's very easy to interchange parts between them and build a monster truck engine. CAT now has a C18 Acert marine engine that produces 1150 Hp, just think of the possibilities.

    Markvfl Thanks this.
