I need a CB... Been driving almost 2 years and I once owned the little midland that you can buy for $39.99 # almost every truckstop. It was alright, but I was never impressed so I sold it. I know less than zero about radio frequencies and have no experience with CB's at all. 2 years in and I think I can finally afford myself a nice little gift so I think I wanna make sure I get the right one for me... Ive been kinda flip flopping between the 50th anny cobra thats just came out or the cobra 29 with bluetooth capability. Not sure if either are good for a first time user... I know I have an incredibly hard time hearing my own cell phone in the truck while I am moving and Ive tried 2 different bluetooth headsets also that have given me and whomever Im speaking with grief. Backround noise drives me insane and drowns out the phone!!!! I was thinking that the bluetooth capable Cobra with me being able to adjust the speaker volume higher may be a good fix for that.. Just want some opinions from users of these radios and any advice for a first time CB user.
thanks
First CB.

I don't think you would bad with either model of the Cobra 29. The 29 is known to have pretty good Modulation & output power.
I would like to say one thing about Bluetooth. I purchased several headsets until I was told about the Plantronics Voyager. I have the 510 model it has been working flawlessly for over 3 years. Great audio. For me and who's on the other end. -
heya crazy where about n IL r ya?

Thanks. I watched a video review for the anniversary edition and read another review for the bluetooth capable version. I guess they want to keep costs down by not offering the anniversary edition with bluetooth.....
I was also wondering about a Uniden as well. I don't know the model # but it had sooo many fancy extras like beartracker.. police scanner...etc... Sells for $282.00 where Im sleepin tonight.
Does anyone use this thing? Chances are Im not going to get that, but all the features had me definitely interested to learn more!!
Need to learn more about Antenna also, my company truck has one medium sized antenna on drivers side mirror and thats it. Is that going to be enough for one of the aforementioned cobras? And is there any NEED to tune a cobra? On the reviews it did go over simple mods I could make myself, but is it recommened from other uses to have to tweak a brand new radio for simple cross talk or shipper/receiver talk? -
LaSalle/Bureau counties.... How about you?

Get the new Cobra LXLE at Sparky's already peaked $125. As long as the antenna has not been damaged and the SWR are ok. It will handle the Cobra 29's. Just heads up. Most Police depts are switching to Digital Apco25 and rebanding. You will need a higher dollar digital Police scanner to hear them. -
Good info. Where is Sparky's? -
