i just started running independent in aug 2010. How hard is it to do taxes? Is there some kind of guidelines i could go by, if i choose to do them myself? i have no expereince in that area. Or just get someone else to do them? i been keeping up with all expenses, i can file my ifta myself, any suggestions would be helpful.

    Few things to consider....
Are you a LLC, Inc. etc?
Have you ever done a schedule C, taxes for a corporation or just the normal 1040?
Are you talking just the tax filing or the bookkeeping/everyday tracking?
Who files your yearly and quarterly filings - State, Federal, NY, NM, KY, OR, IFTA, etc.?
Do you have equipment that requires Assets/Depreciation Schedule?

Unless you feel 100% confident that you can manage your business while doing the driving too, then try it. You can always have someone do your taxes the first year while you also do them too (as a comparision) to see if you come up with the same thing.

Be very careful though to know all state and federal filings that pertain to your type of business.
