First of all, let me say that I appreciate anyone who reads/replies to this post. I am interested in trucking as a career, but I got a DUI three years ago (10/07). This is all that I have on my record, ever. Will I ever be able to drive for a halfway decent company, or am I screwed? Thanks.
Looking for info

Okay, thanks! So basically, one DUI isn't curtains for me in this career field? What if I get it expunged? Again, thanks for the replies!
-
not forever but for the next 4 years at Least it is. I don't know for sure but I'm pretty sure you can't have a DUI expunged......I don't know but it's worth looking into if your serious about becoming a truck driver.

Hey nieghbor, down yonder in Hodgenville here!...You'll be at the 5yr mark by the time you get it expunged and if you plead guilty I don't think you can get it expunged...

Thanks, y'all! I'll just wait a couple of more years to get into the field. Hopefully I will be able to get someone to look past my mistake and hire me!

if i am not mistaken, a record can be expunged BEFORE a person even applies for a permit. once a permit is issued, no expunging can take place. we have had students at my school (my first school employer) go for the expungment
of their records BEFORE they took the permit tests.
but now, i hope you UNDERSTAND, this had better be your LAST such incident...........and DRIVE carefully in your personal vehicle as well. you DO NOT WANT ANY ACCIDENTS OR TICKETS............the cleaner your background is, the BETTER......... -
I had an interview yesterday and both people told me they were more concerned with your driving history BEFORE you got your cdl than after. one guy said he expected a ticket or 2 afterwards but didn't want to see any before. so you see different strokes for different folks. I had never seen anyone put it that way before
