That isnt hard to fix. Take you about 10 seconds with a pair of wire cutters.

I've been there twice in four years of driving, once to the bronx, and once to queens. Crossing the Verizano and Goethel bridges was SCARY (the truck is 10-15% wider than the lanes and those idiots still pass you like it's NORMAL!), and traffic was fairly congested at 02:00 EDT. My 0800 appt was ignored (both times) until 1530 and 1600, and didn't get out of there until 1700-1730. Then the unloader had the cojones to not too subtly ask for a TIP! "Get the driver out of here before rush hour, you might get some MONEY stupid" is what he got told. It took 7 HOURS to get from queens to Jersey City for my load of Sunny D coming back out, that'll WRECK your E-log for sure!
ALOT of companies DON'T pay extra for going there either, figuring they pay you well enough on average (Marten for instance) and then rip you off by making almost 1/3 of your pay perdiem (a seperate issue, I know). Keep your eyes open, PAY ATTENTION, leave your radio, cell phone, computer, and cd player alone, and you'll probably be okay. I got in there and back out without having an accident, you can too. Just be CAREFUL! -
think that is just a spelling error on the OP. Much like how some of use say "there" rather than "their" or "whether" than "weather". or "Ax" rather than "ask". -
I'm sure you were just joking... But to me, it sounded like you were being a prick. But none the less, I'll reply.
A dump valve is only good for turning extremely tight turns & tight backing. Not for forward movment at highway speeds. you can cause seriuos damage to your suspension if you use it in that manner.
Now why do driver's use dump valves? Just for the reason od tight manuvers. I haven't ran with a dump valve in 5 years & have learned that if you properly set yourself up, you don't need to make suck tight manuvers.
Do I plan to hook mine up? Yes... Someday! But right now it isn't all that high on my priority list. I got other stuff to take care of first. -
With my fifth-wheel set split between the drives...I'm 71' long from nose to tail....There are places I drop where there is but 40' to work in.....
Not such an easy set up....
I have a drop in Anaheim with a cul-de-sac lined with four-wheelers around it....The city does not want me to back the half mile into the receiver's driveway.....So I have to dump the valve and jockey the trailer in that tight azzed spot......And that's with a set back axle (386 256" WB....)....Can't imagine doing it with a W9 or a 389 with a 280" WB.....

The OP missed out on a good deal! Crete (the parent co of Shaffer) Pays an extra $100 for doing the "five". They have been known to have a driver shag a trl in and do 2-3 lds in a day! CHA-CHING!! I did all of them I could!

I was just kidding, and the only reason I have ever dumped the air on my trailer when going down the highway was when id be going up a slick hill and id start to spin out id dump the air out of my front axle to put a little more weight on the drives. I have done that a handfull of times with out issue. It was also at slow speed.
I will use my dump when turning really hard corners and when getting into tight places, when mauvering in a big city with small streets especially, I can do it with out it, but I prefer to run it. I actually went to the expense of putting a 2nd pigtail on my truck that ran both of my dumps, and I had my wig wags for my oversize on it, and some backup lights on the end of my trailer, and I was eventually going to put lights in my tool boxes, but never did.
Playing big truck in tight spaces certanly is frustrating, and it does seperate the men from the boys. -
Used to do the same thing when I was there.

i use my dump valve for the tight turns to keep from chewing up a set of tires
