Just saying hello! I am a soon-to-be trucker and will be attending orientation with Roehl very soon. I just got caught in "lurining mode" and decided that it is about time to actually check-in to this forum.
I have seen a bunch of information....and a lot of it has even turned out to be pretty darn good...imagine that!

Just got back from the DMV...freshly minted CDL-A in hand. When I pulled up to the course, there was a big Werner rig backed in at a Family Dollar that shares a parking lot with our yard skills course....so that was entertaining, but I still knocked it out of the park! Yeah!! I don't mean to sound too excited, but our school instructors had me pretty wound-up about the test and it was no big deal after all. My examiner actually said "It's just like a drive around the block,....but in a big truck...don't sweat it, now take me for a drive without hitting any curbs or breaking any laws...let's go."
Whew. I think I lucked out on the examiner lottery because I was the only one that passed out of the 3 students sent for the test today. -
Congratulations big time Trick Daddy!
I remember that day very well and you won't soon forget it either. I was pretty white knuckled and puckered!
Welcome to the forum too. I've read some pretty positive things recently about Roehl. Of course there's plenty of boo-birds and negativity going around. Just be sure you surround yourself with positive people, have a great attitude and have a ball!
I'm excited for you.....good luck! -
Thanks Gears. I always consider that it takes a lot less effort to post about the negatives than the good stuff. I am guilty of the same thing occassionally...... Just think about the last conversation you had with a buddy...... Just this morning our conversation started about a bad experience we had with an instructor and how darn cold it was...and continued for ten minutes that way before we caught ourselves being jerks and got on with our day. I actually chuckled, out loud...not to myself or figuratively....and tossed out a pep talk for the three of us that were stressed about heading to the CDL test. Apparently, it wasn't good enough, but it was a good try...lol.

I must admit, I admire your attitude. Keep it with you as much as possible and you'll realize that things won't be as bad as they seem. That's not just good for this industry, but good for life in general.
